Hi Peepshow, Yea I was pretty pissy when I had to return the watch 3 times at my expense.
I'm just feeling for all of these other people who are having to go through the same crap I did to eventually end up with the watch that Davidsen promised.
These are not cheap to start with but if you factor in shipping back to HK......

My point is if Davidsen does not send you the watch in the photo then surely he is as bad as the Cartel and should be repremanded for it.
I think a bit of pressure would tighten up his CQ immensely.

The problem I have with peepshow's arguement is that he is basing his opinion of Davidsen's overall quality control on just the three watches he has recieved from him. Ignoring the larger picture (in this case, the fact that 65% of a considerable pool of watch buyers have had problems with D's watches) would be like flipping a coin three times and concluding that there's a 66% chance of it landing on heads.

If we ignore the bigger picture, questions of Davidsen's quality control will just turn into an argument between those who have recieved good watches on one side, and those who have recieved bad watches on the other.

@ peepshow, my personal experiences with Davidsen havent been horrible either; it's my concern for the quality of watches we recieve on this board collectively that motivted me to create the thread.

good dealer who has tackled some ambitious projects

my original 82 I sent back...poor thing had tons of flaws...

this new 82 has none. (=

I need to get my dial repl. DSN to his credit stands by his watches - and he knows if the request is *reasonable* then he is willing to meet the client's request.

Has to be trust and fairness on both sides. I will buy from him again.

Last, he's been willing to do some rare pieces - big props in my book.

Indeed, it is. My only rebuttal is that I can only comment on MY personal experiences as I don't know any of the history of the other transactions. I think that's reasonable. I'm not trying to devalue anyone else's opinion or experiences.

I was simply trying to offer some perspective on our hobby as a whole. Just becuase I got one lemon from one of our dealers, I'm not prepared to say that dealer sells junk. It would appear that a lot of people don't share that sentiment (not anyone in this thread particularly, just the recent "feel" of the forum to me).

Improved QC is *never* a bad thing, no matter if you're at the bottom or the top of the heap...

Comparing Davidsen to dealers who misrepresent what the watch is made of is a bit unfair, IMO. Has anyone ever received an Asian 6497 that paid for and was promised Swiss? I've not heard such complaints. His "slime green" dials all appear to be slime green in the photos, too. I'm not sure where the misrepresentation is?

My first 005 from Davidsen

Well, I have justed received my 005 from Davidsen. Everything look fine except the lume is not very tidy (the C3 is a little overflow from the font at 6) but my watch maker in Bangkok comments that he can fix it without any problem (so I don't have to send it back to Davidsen)

His CG looks much better than the chinese 111H that I owned before. The case looks pretty okay to me too. Happy with his work so far. However, I'm also scared as well when I have read several bad comments about his QC. May be he is too busy to offer good QC.

I think DS's QC problem ran long and deep. I have said long before this poll was up that he need to pay more attention to his QC. He is charging a premium on his watches and he should deliver them as such.

I love my 009 PVD I got from him about a year ago but the watch arrived DOA. I had to send it back to HK to him to get it fixed and I had to pay the postage which cost me $30. To his credit, he did send me an extra strap when he sent the watch back after the repair.

I received my first 2 PAM's from Davidsen. One was ok, the other needs a new dial. Davidsen is shipping me the dial.

you know, i was about to pull the chute on one of davidsens watches, but after reading this i ended up ordering from someone else, (will post review when it arrives).

i can understand crappy quality control on an asian movt under two hundred dollar watch, but not on a premium watch by a premium dealer.

oh well.

Perhaps it would be good to have a checklist for him to go down. I believe he ships them personally, so it seems possible and reasonble.

1) no blemishes on dial
2) no stripped screws
