Hearing all the horror stories about Davidsen stripped lug nuts, horrible crowns, ect makes alot of us uneasy about placing new orders through him. I thought a poll would be a good way to give some perspective to his issues of QC. Those who got watches as advertised in general have less motivation to speak up, so we tend to (IMHO) get a bit of an unbalanced perspective when it comes to what we percieve as the ratio of good watches to bad.

So...everyone who's dealt with D speak up! Have you recieved a bad watch? If so, how many? Good watches?

I will answer my own post and say that I am 1 for 2 with Davidsen.

To his credit he was more than willing to take back the defective watch, and the corrected version was more than worth the wait....

This is my experience with my PAM005.

Bought the version with the superlume hands but rep lume dial. Since there is a new dial, I bought the dial to upgrade.

Went to the friendly neighbourhood watch repair shop to change the dial. He think that the movement is very good - just like the original without the decorations (he is a panerai fan as well). However, a washer was missing from the pinon and there were some rusty parts in the movement

These he helped to improve on, but soaking in some mixture etc. He then lubricated the movement (there was some lubricant on it, but not too much) and then regulated the watch. Based on his testing machine, the movement should keep time to COSC standards :p even better, now when I wind the watch, it feels a lot smoother, like the gen :p :p :p

My comments on the new dial can be seen here http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22256 and I do have stripped screws in one of my lugs.

But despite all these - do I love this watch? YES INDEED!

For me, I have experience with small item like dial. I told him the problem. He didn't even ask for the photo. Just sent me the new one right away.

I think to avoid such a QC problem, one should try to talk to him well before place order. He answers email quite well as long as I email to him. I just got a couple of dials from him to build custom watch. Everything is just ok without any problem so far. Maybe I don't expect perfect in rep world but not a rip off either.

no doubt, if something is wrong with his watches, he is more then willing to fix it....to bad having to go through sending it back ( of course at the buyers expense !! ) waiting....hoping....waiting.....

PRAYING TO MAKE IT THROUGH CUSTOMS AGAIN !!

i am sure all these small problems could be avoided with a 10 min QC...just having a good, thorough look at the watch and components...is that to much asked for ?

My watches from Davidsen have proven to be no more prone to flaws than from any other dealer I've done business with. I have vowed to use spring bars only on all my watches. Screws are just a PITA, anyway.

Water is wet, the sky is blue and rep watches are more prone to reliability issues than gens.

Davidsen appears to be in the upper ranks of dealers who make it easy to return watches or help out with issues.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a watch from him...

This poll results will be a bit biased though, in my opinion... the way the question was asked too...
I bet the result will have more "YES" unless people who haven't had problems with DSN will step up and defend him. Just a thought.

I've had a realy bad experience with Davidsen.
As we all know the srews he uses and the hole drilling in the lugs isn't always accurate.
I have a probleem with one of holes in the lugs which isn't identical to the other one.
I offered Davidsen a very simple solution with detailed info atteched.
Just 2 new screws with dimensions as discribed in th edocument incl. foto's.

Mr San's answer : If you don't send me the case i can't ( or won't ) do anything for you.

Unbelivable offering a solution which might cost 2 to 3 dollars and coming up with answer like:

Look mister i will offer you a solution which will cost you a lot of money and risk at the customs so you problebly will say NO and just F... O..

 :(

I totally understand that this poll isn't an end-all by any means but I am pretty sure if any dealer had less than a 50% track rating they would be long gone.

Obv, my guess is that it isn't anywhere near this bad, but this poll has to open some eyes.

I have one Davidsen Pannie. Perfect.

And it has the best lug screws of any of my Pams. And I have fourteen of the buggers.

No need for River's spring-bars on this one.

I'm not so sure these poll results are biased. In fact, the whole purpose of this thread was to give happy customers a chance to speak up and for us to get a general idea of what the numbers are, be them good or bad. If we can't get ubiased repsonses in a neutral poll evaluating quality control and encouraging happy customers to speak up, where can we??

As a side note, even I am suprised to see that a substantial MAJORITY of induviduals have recieved faulty watches from Davidsen. wow.....

I guess I do see your point though, that there are a lot of votes for faulty watches. What I meant to say was that people who received flawless watches from DSN wouldn't neccessarily vote by looking at the question asked - it kinda sounds like "who received a defective watch from DSN?"

But as stated above, I do see that there seem to be a bit too many defects... #s don't lie.

Put Davidsen on probation for the myriad of crappy watches that has left his factory.
I personally had to send my watch back 3 times and each time he had no idea what the problem was until I sent him a photo....Who says he builds these watches because they are wrong.
Just wrong to pay such a premium for this shit.

Wow, you would appear to be pretty passionate about this issue.

If you feel that strongly, just don't buy from him, sheesh!

I've bought 3 watches from Davidsen, 1 had a movement problem (cost $25 at the local watchsmith to fix)

I bought one watch from Ruby, it had a movement problem that vac fixed ($80 service).

Am I prepared to say that Ruby is better or worse than Davidsen? Absolutely not. It's just the luck of the draw. Now issues like bad dial printing, etc, is a completely different topic.

Relax, man. You'll live longer if you don't stress about this crap.
