I have complained about this many times before. I bought the 1st run of 082 and finally sent it back and traded for his 177 because I could not deal with the green numbers/dial. I also was sent his now, new upgraded 005 (Again sausage dial) and had the same problem, so I sent it to Vacuum to cover w/C-1 and now I can live with it.
IMHO, some factory is doing the dials w/this lume and he is stuck with it. Therefore his reluctance to deal with the issue 1st hand. If you want any kind of accuracy at all in your rep this is a complete giveaway and just looks weird.

would you mind posting a picture of your 005 with vaclume. see what I did there? I combined his name with the service. pretty crafty, eh?

i'm frankly dissapointed in most of his lume Choices. i have the davidson 036 gen 1 dial and the lume is way too yellow. at first it did'nt bug me but it is starting to annoy me. thinking of sending it out or ordering another dial altogether. maybe a 177? teh 036 dial just lacks some belivability..or finish.. something..just dos'nt look expensive. :(

Vacuum uses mix of 80%C1 to 20%C3 ratio - the closest one I've seen so far and it matches recent gen PAM historics to a tee.
It glows blue when charged, just as 111/183/000/005 in recent H and I series. Daylight color is almost pure white. If you've visited AD shops recently you guys would know what I'm talking about :)

That said, older gen historics (001, 111A-F series etc) glow green when charged, with the daylight lume color closer to off-white/beige C3 color.

Green-ish daylight lume color fits current gen Subs and Autos quite nicely, but not historics, I'm afraid.

Panerai seem to be using C3 for the base of their lume mix, adding C1 and/or C7 to match the various watch groups (historics, autos, etc).

cheers,

You should get the new 36 dial from DSN I just got mine and it is a whole lot better. It is a much more accurate dial.

I saw that too,,, and it looks AWESOME!!!!!

But going that route would set you back around $600 when all is said and done, not to mention about a month in wait time at best....

Hi guys - could we keep this really positive.

I think D is doing a great service to our community but I wanted to use this poll to convince him he could sell more watches if his lume was whiter, that is all.

cheers,

I'd be in for the 036, 082 and 005 with whiter lume.

I'm not into buying an expensive watch and sending it away for a custom lume job. Not only is the extra money an issue, but no matter how good a job, on a sausage dial the hand applied lume never looks as good as the printed lume.

relumming won't get rid of the green. it will become a little lighter but it will still be green. lume doesn't take a solid color, it will always show the base color. if you want the green gone you will have to start with a white base color and then apply the c3 over it.

i have a 200.00 strap sitting in my watch box waiting for the lume color to be corrected on the 082. along with that strap is my davidsen 195. it has had 2 updated superlummed dials ordered for it and 1 one of them installed. it is still green and if i can't figure out a way to fix it i will sell it. to me it looks so bad i can't wear it.

If you want this kind of exact lume representation, you really need to consider reluming a dial, and getting a GOOD look at the real thing to go by.

Hi Enzo,

while I agree with your overall statement to get a "perfectly reproduced" lume color and glow, I think a more white mix from davidsen would approximate the general color a lot better than what he currently have which looks almost lime colored. I hope that makes sense. It's the difference between being 20% correct and 80% correct. I don't need 100% on lume, just make it glow OK and have the color be in the ballpark. Currently D's dials glow, but the green when not charged is unlike any gen PAM I've ever seen.

cheers,
Z

Well this needs to cover Davidsens, 082, 005 and 195, these sausage dials are the ones with greenies and need to have the color changed so they are more cream colored uncharged.
