Datejust 41 - Clean w/ Deep Crystal vs Stock VSF?

I'm sorry for asking this question again, I know it's asked often. Most threads and discussions I see about this topic are comparing stock to stock, so I was wondering, if I added a Deep crystal to the clean factory, would it make you choose it over a VSF? I've never seen a deep crystal in person, but I do know that my stock CF explorer is noticeably cloudier than my VSF submariner.

So basically, just hoping to get the opinion of someone who has been able to compare a deep and VSF crystal in person.

I would not choose either based on crystal alone. More important are dial, case, bezel, movement. Make your decision on those and then decide if you need to change the crystal.

My thought process was that the bracelet and case shape of the Clean gives it a slight edge according to my preferences, but overall, a cloudy crystal like my Clean Explorer would tilt it back to VSF. So I'm not really deciding on crystal alone, but it's the teetering factor if you know what I mean.

I have a 2 year old VSF DJ and it's still the most accurate rep I have in terms of time keeping. Maybe I got lucky, but I seem to remember at the time that VSF was known to have the better movement than Clean.

The crystal clarity on the VSF isn't great. Im not sure if they have improved it since I bought mine, but I'm considering upgrading the crystal.

Anyway, based on my experience they VSF is the way to go for movement. As @aHero said you can always upgrade crystal on clean or vsf

If Clean generally makes you happy, crystal is an easy fix.

I'm happy to see this thread as DJ41 with the blue dial is my next rep. I am leaning towards Clean and have a question about serial numbers. I am seeing discussions about making sure we get the newest Clean's with a SN range of XXX. Does that really matter? If it does, where do I find that information and how should I pass that request to or inquire about it with a TD?

Send a message to the TD of your choice and ask them for the most recent Clean DJ. The factories change their serial numbers often on the same models, there are factories making fake Clean models and using the Clean stickers to scam people.

This is why you should only use the contact information that is located in the Trusted Dealers section and never Google the TD's name.

Thanks for the link! I was looking for it on Steve's site but I did not go back far enough. Since that was a 2022 comparison, do we know if there were any major changes at the VSF or Clean level since then? To my eyes, I really don't see a major difference and I am relying on Steve's notes; they all look great. This is where the fun (for me) in this game steps forward with trying to make a decision on comparing the minutia.
