Hi guys,

I had been in the forum quite sometimes but I was not in active that much since I bought a Datejust 36 112634 ARF. After changing the Datewheel, it looks so good. Thanks to everyone in this forum.
It has been a few years since then. Now I want to get a Datejust 31mm for my wife. I already searched but I don't see many of us that talked about the Datejust 31mm. If you already owned a Datejust 31mm, can you give me some recommendation?
I know that ARF is draw a lot of interested from people that wants to buy Datejust 36mm and 41mm.
I know that VSF Datejust 41mm is awesome (unfortunately, VSF is not making any watch now)
But then how about Datejust 31mm? I found that ARF and VSF don't make them, the only factories that makes 31mm are GSF and BB. Anyone already purchased a 31mm, pls let me know what do you think?

Thanks

Did you make any progress on your research / decision about a Datejust 31mm? I'm also in the market for one (buying it for my mum). It looks like the BPF version allows you to select different movement options: Asia 2813, Asia 2824-2, or Swiss ETA 2836-2. My guess is the Swiss ETA is the likely to be the highest quality movement, but it's also the most expensive option.

The GSF versions of the DateJust 31, seem to only come with the Seiko NH05 movement. That's a good movement, but it doesn't beat at the correct rate — it beats at 21,600 bph vs. 28,800 bph for both the gen and all the options on the BPF. So that would make the sweep of the seconds hand on the BPF look more gen since it'll move at 4Hz vs 3.5Hz.

Also, it seems like the BPF version can be purchased with both the Oyster or Presidential bracelet, whereas the GSF is only available on the presidential bracelet (at least from the TD sites I was searching).

However, the dial on the BPF version appears to have a flaw — the minute markers on the gen are a train track, whereas the dial on the BPF version are just tick marks. Interestingly, the GSP version gets this correct, and has train track minute markers.

thanks for posting this.

I’m thinking of maybe waiting a few months to see if the new flower pattern dials get replicated. I’m sure my mum would love that style since she’s an avid gardiner.

I strongly recommend the GMF and the white dial with romain numbers is nearly a gen dial, print is immaculate and goes with everything.

Hmmmm… that’s worth considering. My struggle is that my mum really like to be able to read her watch at light, so stick markers with lume are essential. Obviously I wouldn’t get those on the flower dial either. I’ll have to consult with the “client” further to see what she wants.

pictures from Reddit of the GMF 31m in green dial with markers, unfortunately no lume shot, but was by seeing this pictures that I pulled the trigger on the white one.
The replica dial with the leaves is more beautiful in pictures that in person, I’ve hold the gen in my hands and it was not impressive at all.
I got mine with JTime and from order to getting the QCs and watch about 1 month which was amazing considering the time we are living on.

Hey all,

How’s the search going for dj31? I am also on search for one now and came across this.

This is not a TD, just using this as a reference finding more models available from various factories.

https://acetimewatch.io/rolex/datejust-31mm.html/page/1/

It looks like EWF has got many models of the 31, even the Aubergine with RG jubilee. Quite impressive but not enough information on them, and ideally would need more photos of dial or video to judge colour of dial.

Has anyone got any insights here on EWF dj31s? With limited understanding, it seems like EWF is a mid tier factory.

Cheers

I’ve ordered a GMF from mirotime. I’ll report back once it arrives.

Which model did you order? If I may ask, why not EWF? Seems like they’ve got more models available. Then again, gmf may have more models that I haven’t found or seen yet lol

EWF according to my watchmaker I should stay away.
he didn’t got into detail but I didn’t buy the rep I was about to buy.

I see.

Pros and cons with all the models.
I am leaning more towards GMF but I find certain things on EWF nicer which scares me since they are so called mid tier only but they seem to have done it better than GMF.

For example on the DJ31 models with diamond at Roman 6oclock, the diamonds there seem to be looking a lot better and shinier whilst the gmf ones are more dull.

colour on dial for example the purple/aubergine or pink dial ones seem to be different in colour.

it’s a hard decision lol

To me is not
Watchmaker said don’t get EWF I won’t.
He knows the insides etc.

The GMF white I did the mini review in the Rolex section I’d put side by side with a gen I think it will be a hard time to tell them apart, obviously the diamonds are not diamonds and chances are they come from the same place.
