A 19 year old just killed a woman (and put her 13 y.o. grandson in CCU) right around the corner from my house drunk driving at 8AM.
He got a summons at age 18 for underage drinking.
My brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver.
Your post = not so funny.
You're right, it's not. It wasn't meant to be. Understandably, no matter what someone compares an issue to, there will be someone who will be offended. It's a fact of life that even the most accomplished debaters handle well all the time.
Apolitically ? Correct
Apolitical: The state or quality of being apolitical can be the apathy and/or the antipathy towards all political affiliations.[1] Being apolitical can also refer to situations in which people take an unbiased position in regard to political matters.
Apathy: (also called impassivity or perfunctoriness) is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation and passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest in or concern about emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical and/or physical life. But contrary to this, an apathetic individual may take interest in emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical and/or physical life's attributes. Not necessarily to end that apathy but in order to find a deeper meaning to the existential meaning of being, part of which necessitates apathy, for we are by definition 'without meaning'.
Political Correctness: (adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term which denotes language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social and institutional offense in occupational, gender, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, certain other religions, beliefs or ideologies, disability, and age-related contexts, and, as purported by the term, doing so to an excessive extent. In current usage, the term is primarily pejorative,[1][2] while the term politically incorrect has been used as an implicitly positive self-description. Examples of the latter include the conservative The Politically Incorrect Guide published by the Regnery editorial house[3] and the television talk show Politically Incorrect. In these cases, the term politically incorrect connotes language, ideas, and behavior unconstrained by a perceived orthodoxy or by concerns about offending or expressing bias regarding various groups of people.
It was more a commentary on how sad and ineffectual the judicial system is at times when it comes to sentencing. It was also a commentary on how some parents deal with their children. This is a prefect example of how in both cases punishment isn't the answer- or a deterrent. We all know that bad things happen depending on the choices we make. The difference is being able to make good decisions a part of our daily lives.
In the case of the child in the video, it seems that there are as many reasons to condemn the child as their are to condemn the father. Too many people are willing to place the blame on someone else, but rarely take responsibility for themselves. I didn't see the father take any responsibility for his daughter's actions. I can tell you that I would if it were my daughter. I can also tell you that my daughter has an excellent relationship with myself, and particularly with my wife (as it should be- some things you just don't discuss with dad!..... though I hear about them from my wife so I know how to participate on the team). We discuss things that have happened to herself or others and how she reacted, making sure to offer positive suggestions on how to deal with these things in the future. I can also tell you that when we are disappointed, we offer help and guidance to keep it from happening again.
When you build an engine and forget to install one of the spark plugs, do you blame the engine for not running smoothly? Do you withhold oil until it learns its lesson?
