Customs got my watch box. Now what? Need advice.

This is what happened. I bought 2 watch boxes from aoobuy. They were sent in 2 packages. One didn't arrive yet. But the other one got opened up by customs. Now, apparently they think the box is gen, because they didn't say they will confiscate it. Instead they want me to send them a receipt or auction from ebay so they can charge me some taxes. If I don't do that they will send the box back in 30 days. That's what the letter says anyway.

I decided to ask here for advice before I do something stupid. Problem is I don't know which watch box is in the package, since I ordered Omega and Rolex boxes. I paid with PayPal, but of course nothing is mentioned here, you know why.

So, what to do? :err:

I'd check their forum to see if they have any recommendations..

Show them your paypal receipt. ?? why not??

No watch boxes are mentioned in paypal receipt, however the tracking numbers are visible in paypal receipt. You think this will do?

you need to check with aoobay because they say that small orders are sometimes shipped as gifts or samples to avoid tax issues.
email them before you get back to customs and ask how it was sent.

Good advice Andy! They also may be able to shed some light on what is in each box. You could also ask them to send a dummy invoice for overstock watch boxes from an estate sale. To whom it may concern, kind of thing.

On the other hand the boxes are probably worth 100.00 as gens so if vat is 25%-35% you might just want to pay the piper and be done with it.

is it just the boxes or have you got papers with them aswell??

tricky with papers but if its just boxes and you paid $100 or so,it might be worth doing what R2D4 says and paying.it'll be cheaper than a re-order.

aoobuy boxes comes with paper... where do you stay? i'll never had issues with aoobuy..

Where are you? In Sweden the customs often do not open the package, but just ask for a receipt to see if you should pay taxes. I know several Swedes on the fora that got their packages stopped in customs, just presented a receipt of some sort (for instance from PayPal) and got the package released from customs (with the tax invoice).

Robbie (aoobuy) should be able to help you out. What country are you in? You dont get a letter here in the USA, they just collect the duties when they deliver it, you dont pay, you dont get.

Be careful, in France customs oblige us to pay 3 times the real price of the fake product...i mean if you buy a 200$ fake rolex which cost 2000$ in any AD, you will have to pay a 6000$ fine .

Take your time to take your decision .

Are you sure? (Personally I don't know, but I have never heard this about France before.)

Update.
Aoobuy sent me an invoice just a few hours after I emailed them. Looks good everything is there. Guess i'll just email that and paypal transaction to customs then.

I have sent the aoobuy invoice and a copy of paypal transaction to customs. They charged me 7 EUR tax and gave me the box.

Win.
