Well, I have a custom ordered PAM being built for me by Davidsen. The watch will be made from the following pieces of DSN's inventory.

His new E series 111 case/caseback/movement, like this:

Mated with his white base dial from his 055 watch like this:

Disregarding the 111 caseback, I think this makes for a VERY visually accurate E series 114. Hopefully Davidsen will decide to start selling this watch and will make a correct caseback for it.

The only other mods I have planned for this watch is to install the Palp/Pam crown that I have sitting in my watchbox and perhaps a trip to vaccum for his "vaclume" treatment (as I don't think plain C3 is accurate to this watch).

I will post pics as soon as I get some from DSN.

Feel free to share your opinions on this little "project".

Wow....That will be a killer 114... Especially with the palp crown and vaclume incorporated.

I am sure you can source a correct caseback from our other trusted dealers....

@reg, yes this will be utilizing the polished CG from DSN's 111E. Not as nice as I've heard your Jimmy pieces are, but I'll have to make do.

@tutima, I don't know if "normal" rep casebacks will fit DSN's cases...

Love it!

E-series ulti-mov't, E-series caseback and CG, 'dinner plate' uncluttered white ghost dial - simply awesome. :)

Not to mention correct low bars on letter 'A' ;)

babola

P.S. Is the 114 dial still missing 'L Swiss Made L' under 6 o'clock or is this a new updated version ?

Babola, here is the printing beneath the 6. I'm not sure how correct it is, though.

Just to answer couple of questions here...

'Standard' 44mm rep casebacks fit DSN cases. Also, when ordering watches from DSN these days, you have a choice of either 'standard' rep cased watche, or his own of slightly different dimensions. Advantage of DSN's "own" case is that it comes with a respectable CG and thicker crown which is spring-loaded just like the gen crown.

DSN 114E will come with polished CG, not brushed.
While 'standard' rep polished CG is now unavailable since rep case factories have ceased its production some time ago, DSN can still get you either polished or brushed CG - his case maker simply makes it to order :)

...and no, am not affiliated with the aforementioned person, except for keeping in touch with his latest developments occasionaly via email

cheers,
babola

@ssalxpanerai

Are you looking for a Ti "E" series display caseback?

Now that is a nice combo... but I thought the gen 114 had a 'shinny' finish to the case and CG...or is that particular to a specific year.

What Strap are you thinking of putting on it ?

Palp was a guy in Germany and he made some crowns for Panerai, they are suppost to be like the original

Sorry for the confusion I caused by posting the picture of DSN's Ti 055. That was only to show the dial. For the watch I'm ordering, both the case and the CG will be high polished just like the gen 114E. Take a look at DSN's for sale thread for his 111E, it will look just like that, except with the white base dial.

The Palpatine/Pam (I actually ordered it from Pam, but it's the same piece from what I understand) is thicker than any of the other crowns available. It's actually a bit too thick (0.1mm?) when compared to a gen crown. DSN's crowns, in addition to being spring loaded like the gen, are the correct thickness at 2.0mm. The problem with DSN's crowns is that the bevel cut on the edges of the crown teeth are too aggressive, they remove too much material from the crown. The net effect of that is that the crowns actually appear thinner than they are.

From the pictures of gen E/F/G series 114s that I've been able to find, I *think* the Palp crown will appear more correct, but we'll see.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts in this thread. DSN promised me pictures before he sends the watch out next week. I'll post them here as soon as I get them.

Not quite, they're close to gen crown in appearance but still slightly thicker and without inner spring.

That said, probably the 'best' looking PAM rep crown you can get these days, expensive but worth the $$, IMO.

Very nice 114E. Your idea really inspires me. Because of this, I also plan to build one soon for 114H. Will post when it is done.
