crystal lift Bergeon 4266 vs Press

First of all, I would like to thank the experts who give their advice/teaching altruistically in this forum.
I am getting my watchmaking kit, at the moment I am a novice and I aspire to make some modifications, clean some dials, but always with an eye to the future.

I have seen many videos of crystal changing, usually using presses, but I have found other videos using a Bergeon crystal lift (4266 ref).

What differences do you see between them? I think you are going to recommend me the presses, any special one? I would like to have good tools that don't take up too much space, that's why I had thought about the Bergeon as an "all in one".

The lift only works in acrylic/plastic crsytals as the press works with all types of crystals.

You cannot bend a mineral/sapphire with the lift.

And which press do you recommend? I've seen many but I don't know which one would be ideal... I know that depending on the mm of the glass one size or another is used, but I see presses of 18€ and presses of hundreds...

The more you pay, the better it is. I have currently a cheaper one but will upgrade to a Horotec in the future.

Crystal lifts are good for watches whose movements come out from the front instead of the back. Those types of watches (companies like Mido, Roamer, Benrus, etc) you can't use a press to remove or replace the crystals. Otherwise a press would likely be the choice for any other watches. I do occasionally use a lift on non front loaders if I need to remove a spec of dust from the crystal or dial and can't be arsed to remove the movement from the case (and it's a non-armored crystal).

To add to my post since I can't edit, some of the front loaders will have armored crystals and for those you can't use the lift but you can use a crystal wrench like the one below. You can find used ones made by Seiko, Longines, Mido, and others.

Yes, that's a crystal press. There are two main types. Ones like that where you turn the wheel to press the crystal in and the squeeze type that has a handle/lever that you press to insert the crystal. I've seen arguments for both, some feel that the lever/handle gives you more tactile feedback when pressing in the crystal but I've seen others say the same thing about the presses that use a wheel. I personally have one with a wheel as I feel I can more finely tune the amount of force being used.

For sure. I have their hand setting tool and can't believe how good it is for the price. I have a sneaking suspicion that whatever factory makes the Chinese tool makes it for Bergeon as well.

I have a Bregeon 4932 and some generic ones from Amazon. A cheap case knife from Amazon would probably be fine.
