Hey Fellas:

This happened to my 1680. Since I tend to wear my other watches as well, it obviously ran out of power reserve. When I went to wear it some days back, as I was unscrewing the crown, it just fell off. Unattached itself! Since I have some experience on opening Rolex casebacks (not really, just have the wrench to open it... LOL), I popped the caseback off to re-engage the crown, the small button was not there! Obviously, I didn't touch it from there. I just re inserted the crown and screw it back in. I can't wind, or set the watch.

Any help?

It's a stem, mate, not just a crown.
So, you're saying, there's no stem release button? Are you sure it's Swiss mov't?

yes that is a swiss movement. Stamping is clear in his last pic. Sounds like a keyless issue.

Yes it's a Swiss ETA 2846. Thought so about the keyless as well. I smell this won't come cheap.

More than likely a keyless works issue. Last time the crown and stem were inserted or removed the button was pushed too far and it is caught on the underside of the movement plate. It's happened to me before and is fixable. If you're not comfortable best to send off to a watchmaker, shouldn't be too pricey.
