Soooo, as recently a lot of people have asked, I wanted to do a side by side comparison.

VSF is pretty close to a 1:1 copy, I must say even on these pictures you hardly see differences and even when you see them you don't know which is which.

I only took the pictures spontaneous/not zoomed in to 100x, because I wanted to have a "real life" comparison - what I mean by that is:
If you wear one and I wear the other, you couldn't inspect them in detail without taking the watch off.
So these pictures are not perfect and shot with an Iphone 14, but meant to be a small help for all people being indecisive.

The gen was just picked up from Rolex a few hours ago, pictures taken and went to the safe to the rest (just in case you want more pictures, to know it won't happen haha).

Its another watch for my wife, a daily beater, thats why 36mm.
Surprisingly the 36mm look huge on her, she usually wears only 41mm (AP, Rolex, IWC).
Thanks to the legendary @Nikz19 I went with the 36mm, he talked me into it and it fits perfectly.

Again please look at the pictures with caution, as they are meant to be an "eye test" in the real world and not close up pics zoomed in to see a sand corn.

My thoughts (before leaving the floor to you guys for discussion):
- there are minor differences
- no one will ever notice the difference between GEN and VSF (in the real world and not with a 50x zoom)
- even side by side compared its really hard to see the differences properly
- the VSF has a GEN bezel, so that makes it a little harder
- usually a giveaway is the bracelet and the clasp, but since this can only be felt and not seen on pictures: the VSF bracelet is a maybe 1% more flexible than the GEN, but surprisingly has the same characteristics and bends exactly the same in all kind of positions - event the clasp opens the same way and feels the same
- the weight difference (if there is any) is not noticeable - I did not measure them. If there is any, it'll be a few grams

I will leave the rest to you guys to discuss and see.

Which is GEN and which is VSF?

Edit:
Having issues with pictures, here is the link to an album with higher quality pics:

Enjoy

The only tell that I can see is the crown not being aligned to the 12 on the diamond version, hence my pick is this to be the VSF.
Other than that I dont have a damn ass clue lol 😅

I would say blue is vsf, black is gen. Crystal on the blue one is not as clear as on the black one, cyclops has a blueish tone and lugs are too soft.

Agree. If it was a rep ppl had reject it because of the rehaut :)

Yep, if I had to pick one, black is VSF. That said, both look gen lol.
I will add more info...and it will be clearer why its so hard:

the VSF has a gen datewheel, a gen xtal and a gen bezel....

i could get a gen dial now too....but it looks exactly like VSF....so its kinda not worth the hustle....

Interesting...as both have gen crystals ;)
I just left that detail out to see the reactions ;)
Interesting, but the difference is definitely noticable. Also the date magnification is not the same (could be just different crystal gaskets - height)

Very well done @DustyDude ! For me the give away was/is that the serial number is not perfectly centred. I’m actually surprised that no one else pointed that out as a I don’t see the corner/lugs or cyclops hue. I think that depends on the different production times of the crystals. I’m curious how much a gen bezel for the 36 DJ costs.
Enjoy your beautiful watches! :)

The diamond is the GENE, the rehaut is much clearer... One of the clasp must be from CF :coffee:

Hi just got the CLEAN 36mm Datejust black dial with fluted bezel and jubilee strap. What do you think of the quality? Any obvious giveaways?
