True. Plus: we're talking about details in the sub-millimeter range. You'll barely see any serifs holding the watch in your hand. People tend to forget that when examining microscope shots of a capital letter printed on the dial.

I don't have a Daytona so I have to mess this thread up with a Submnariner shot, just for demonstration purposes.

Jesus where did you get that novelty sized rule from?? The serifs on the 1 looks off, so I'm guessing this only a rep.

But how do we know your ruler's 1mm spacing are accurate.
We will definitely need double verification by including side by side shots with a digital vernier calipers, and lots of red lines to prove your measuring instrument is calibrated correctly :p

I joke of course & I actually looked at my sub there, and I'd be hard pressed to see the edge of any of the letters, and that's from 10cm away, focusing intently.

Thank you to everyone for sharing their QC pics though, much appreciated & fair play for pre-ordering

At this point though, like Mariah,

'All I want for Christmas is....."

Some 116520 pics ;)

Thank you for your post man!
To be honest I am getting sick of some of these nitpickers. This watch is absolutely stunning. It is one of the releases that everyone is waiting for.
I can understand that subdials can be REALLY fat or that a rehaut can be TOTALLY wrong...
But look what we got - this thing is a beauty! And this is the first attempt from CF while building a daytona.
IT IS SIMPLY SIMPLY LOVELY!

Enjoy the watch and alternative.

Many wished for another 4130. Now you have it.

if you can't stomach the price of clean for their product they released, you can opt to buy a noobv4 still.

I am seeing this thread full of nitpickers, cant believe it. Am I beginning to feel wrong in this community? Kind of...every new release seems beeing ripped apart from people that dont have gen in hands or that live with microscope on their eyes instead of just having fun of a watch. Must be a sad life.

great watch, thanks for work CLEAN.

^This

Order a watch if you can afford it, wear it, enjoy it and if you don’t like it, put it on M2M. I always find it funny how this community nitpicks these watches like they’re spending thousands of dollars.

For what it's worth, Noob needed the ARF Bracelet/Clasp, CF Bezel Insert, arguably an ARF Dial (not really necessary on the V4 Noob)

The CF has all of those parts included, for $788. Seems like a deal for me considering Noob can't be had. If the only flaw is the dial, we are in good shape. I thought the case would be a nightmare, CGs wrong etc.

The only issue is ensuring that the movement will be stable, I hope it is as good as Noob's. I saw one of these cryptic translations saying something about CF's 4130 not being as stable due to the engraving on the rotor, but you know how things get lost in translation.

We all prioritise subjectively, if this had been available two months ago I would’ve definitely bought. That said I just received two ARF Daytona this morning which I ordered having given up on a Noob Phoenix. I couldn’t be happier, love them. $488 each so $600 saving on the pair by comparison.

I’m wincing now as I know what’s coming….faux chrono etc. Disclaimer: I own two gen Omega with chrono, one of which I’ve had 10 years, the second around 4 years. I’ve timed an egg………. once. I mention as there’s a lot thinking price is way high, there is another option for the cash sensitive.

I’ll be watching reviews with interest and will probably buy a Clean 116500ln next year.

Well done to all those taking a punt on these, as stated above there will be a keen C & R market if you don’t like it.

You did well. ARF is a great choice. I had one for what felt like 2 years before the Noob came out. Never missed not having a chrono, but I went Noob for doing a nice build that was very close to gen and was very happy with the results and it is my current daily.

Nearer than you think
I disagree, nitpicking is a part of this hobby, a very substantial one at that, otherwise frankening wouldn't be a thing.

People study reps and see what the positive or negatives points about that particular release are, they spend time and effort on it thanks to their very wide and deep knowledge.

It's just normal that there are people who see stuff that others think it's irrelevant, and that's because the latter are ignorant about it and don't know the tells.

Pointing the objectively "wrong" stuff out is absolutely great for the community, it's then on the individual member to absorb that knowledge and subjectively position it on their own scale of importance.

There's something I agree with anyway, which is that many people have never held or seen a genuine daytona in hand, so they don't know what its proportions or details are like, they have no comparison standard, and therefore they are happy with each and any subpar release that comes around lol.

Don't get me wrong, I hope this release reveals itself to be amazing, ( the 116500 doesn't look bad at all, i'm currently waiting for the 116520), but bashing people down just because they are saying something that you don't like is not wise at all lmao.:chatterbox:

Cheers :p

I really don't get members who shame others for pointing out flaws. It's so counterproductive and against the ethos of this forum which is to provide info and a full picture.

FACTS:
1 - Every member cares about different things. (It's up to the individual to decide. It's stupid to state your opinion as fact such as 'who cares if the colour is off' or 'who cares if the SELS aren't right'. EVERYONE cares about different things let them decide. For example for me it's unthinkable to have a watch with a non functioning chrono but some members don't mind whereas I don't mind if the shade of the hour markers are off - can't really notice).
2 - No rep will ever be perfect. Doesn't mean you can't still understand the flaws and still enjoy it.
3 - Without those 'miserable' nitpickers this hobby WOULD NOT be where it is today. It's a business with these Chinese factories, if we didn't care the details they'll do the min they can get away with.

Half the fun for me is finding out all of the flaws and seeing if they're things I can live with. But I don't want to bury my head in the sand. We're all here because we like the watch, pointing out flaws on the watch you like is not a personal attack, we're here for the same reason.
I actually appreciate the members who go beyond, because then I can be confident everything has been considered and I won't get any bad surprises.

Here's a concept: It's possible for the watch to have flaws AND to enjoy it!

Agreed. I like to know about existing differences among reps and between gen and reps as well regardless the differences bother me or not.

Another thing, I've learnt so much about watches in general from this forum and other resources by going in to the nth degree on minor things, doing research, which I wouldn't otherwise have. Learning about materials, movements, manufacturing processes, when the watch does come I feel I appreciate it more than 99% of gen owners. At what these factories can do at the price point.

IMO there's nothing wrong with analysing / nit-picking on new watches as it does provide information to all members. But there's a way to do it constructively :

1/ it's ok to say that a watch is overall good but identify some small flaws and point them out. What I don't appreciate is comments such as "the brushing on the movement under the close caseback is not at the exact angle, obvious flaw I can see it from a mile away so the watch is trash". There are some very good reps but they'll still have flaws, so a flawed rep doesn't mean it's trash.

2/ let's make sure that the comments are based on reality. People who comment on colors and shapes when they compare a QC pic with a 3D rendering or an Instagram pic full of effects and conclude that a rep is "way off" are just bringing confusion, not information

It is OK to nitpick, show the flaws, etc. Not only does it show you what flaws you need to live with, but if somebody is researching a gen purchase, it points out exactly what to look for.

However let's be honest, majority will still buy the watch. These minor flaws do not add up to much in the real world.
