Thank you for taking the time to do this. Basically they look the same. With the gen crystal it's hard to evaluate crystal quality but we can see Clean is still a step down. Is it worth a $400-600 upgrade? Probably not.

Sometimes the Clean dial is "brown" whereas the VSF with gen crystal is "black".

Clean SEL top right is worse but I won't comment on SELs because that's really just a QC thing rather than a factory specific thing.

I am getting a diamond tester from AliX and it is shipping to me right now, will see if the tool says the same thing about the difference between Clean and gen crystal.

Of course, this crystal in particular is expensive and not easy to find, but at the time I found an interesting combo with that of a 216570. Convenient price and I did not let the opportunity slip away.

VSF has gen crystal.
To help to identify i can say that vsf has more white dial words. VSF has bracelet with red stripes. Insert looks the same but different pip.
Great comparison... thank you for taking the time.

How big of a difference between Clean and Gen crystal?

@Sonofalich You're about as mad on the SD43 as me 😂

Tbh... its the crystal that ruins it for me. If I could buy a gen one easily I would buy this watch in a heart beat... that said I've had about 6 so far haha.

The other annoying thing is the bracelets are kinda small once you take the extension out... ughr, first world problems! Also must be our age... I'm an 88 :p

 I want this one...
But the size worries me a bit.. I see you guys discussed it compared to a Sub earlier in the thread, but how do you feel it compares to your 226570? Does it wear a lot bigger?

Basically, lug to lug, they essentially feel the same on my wrist.

The Explorer 2 "looks" bigger because the dial is bigger, and the Seadweller looks "smaller" because the thicker bezel and smaller dial (dial size is the same as a sub essentially) makes it look smaller.

The key difference between the two lies in the thickness. The Seadweller is alot thicker than the Explorer 2, which I think contributes to some feeling of it feeling "bigger" on the wrist, but visually, the Explorer looks bigger.

But it's basically nitpicking. From a distance I feel like they're basically the same type of feeling on wrist.

Thank you for an amazing comparison, this gave me hope. The thickness is definitely something I can live with 😄
Both look great on your wrist

Wrist Size 16.3cm/6.25in around

Here are two shots similarly placed. You can see it looks the same essentially.

If we go into details, the Explorer 2 looks a tad bigger because white + large dial, Seadweller looks smaller because small dial + thick bezel

But like I said, the Seadweller "feels" bigger due to the thickness and raised caseback. I wear my SD tight so I definitely feel it more than my Explorer 2 which is lighter and the flat caseback makes it a tad more comfortable.

Damn, and here I thought I was done spending money for the year… 😅
The thickness was what "scared" me the most, but the way you wear it, it really doesn’t look bad at all. Quite the opposite, it looks exactly like a proper tool watch should!

In my opinion, if you have a Sub, there's no point in getting a Seadweller. I'm just silly and I prefer the tool aesthetic of the Seadweller and the whole provenance behind it haha. I appreciate the engineering behind it. It's kind of edgy but it's almost like... "everyone else has a sub.... boring".

However, this Seadweller has made me delusional because I'm thinking about getting an Ultra Deep, if I can pull this off, surely I can pull off the Omega 45.5mm 18mm thick Ultra Deep right?
🤣

Hehe, I already have a 126610, and a 124060 is on its way in the mail as we speak…BUT one can never have to many subs 😏
I totally get where you're coming from, like the functional helium valve - I’m never going to need it, but it’s damn cool to have it!

Hahaah hooooly, thats a different level of crazy 😂 Kudos to you if you can pull it off though!
