Citizen Nighthawk problem, not working, not charging?

Hi, I recently bought Citizen Promaster Sky Eco Drive Nighthawk BJ7019-62E from creationwatches.com.

I received watch in about a week from date when I placed my order, it arrived via FedEx and everything seemed fine, I opened box and I was amazed with looks of this Citizen, it's a masterpiece, but my excitement didn't last long as I noticed that watch isn't working!

At first I tought, no big deal, it's an eco drive, it needs to be exposed to sun for couple of minutes to start working since these watches stop only if they discharge completely. I exposed it to the sun for about 15 minutes, but nothing happened. After that I read recharging guide and there was stated that watch needs 12 minutes to start working from completely discharged state. OK, I thought, I'll place it on my sunny window tomorrow and give it whole day of recharging. I did that, from 8am to 3pm, that is 7 hours of direct sunlight exposure and nothing happened! I also put it on the window today, it has been 3 hours now and the watch hand still doesn't move!

I send e-mail to Jason from creationwatches.com, he replied that watch needs to be charged! I sent him second mail,m explaining that watch was charging for 7 hours and I'm waiting reply.

Can someone help me with this matter, since I don't have any experience with eco drive watches, this is my first eco drive and it's imho DOA...

Creation watch should exchange with you. They will first tell you to take it up with Citizen. But if you persist that they sent you a broken watch I bet they will. Since this is a real watch you can contact your CC if they get jerky. I think its broken. Sorry but it will work out. It is a very nice watch.

Creation watch should exchange with you. They will first tell you to take it up with Citizen. But if you persist that they sent you a broken watch I bet they will. It's broken. I had a new one once that had the same problem. Insist on an exchange

thanks for your replies guys, I'm also convinced that it is broken, second hand looks like it's stuck, it tries to move, but seems like something inside mechanism is blocking it :( creationwatches contacted me, Raul from customer service said that he forwarded my mail with this problem to their team and will contact me soon...

hope everything works out well, I really like this watch, it was my favourite watch since I first saw it in one commercial and I finally managed to buy it and it was DOA :(

I agree with you. Its a very nice watch. Please stress to them that it arrived this way. Don't let them send you to Citizen. But Citizen will fix it BTW. So you are only out the frustration and the wait. All will work out.

Thanks for incouragement!!! BTW what does "CC" stand for?

This is what I've sent to them:

"Thank you, I've had good shopping experience with you and I don't want that this matter spoils our future cooperation. Just to make sure you got all facts right, watch arrived, didn't work, I placed it on my sunny window yesterday, it has been charging for 7 hours and still doesn't work. I'm also charging it today for last 4 hours and it still doesn't work! Hope to resolve this problem with my watch soon!"

Now, I'm awaiting their response...

Just a quick update, Jason replied to my e-mail, he said that this is a very surprising situation and that I should send back watch to them so they can inspect it and send me back replacement watch! I'm very happy with their service and I'm sending watch as soon as I find some spare time to pack it and take it to the post office! I'll be posting again as soon as I get some more updates on this situation!

FWIW, the problem is most likely that it needs a replacement accumulator.
Just like a battery, only rechargeable!
It will be an old stock watch, and having been sitting around for a couple of years, the accumulator has died through lack of use.
Best that they look after it, as these things are a lot dearer than batteries, and a little more involved in installation.

just a quick update, Jason replied to my e-mails, he said that watch arrived couple of days ago and that he will be sending replacement watch on monday! I will post again when watch arrives! Hope everything goes well and my replacement works!

another update, Jason said that replacement watch is sent yesterday so it will reach me in about two weeks, will keep you posted :)

watch finally arrived yesterday :) it's a beauty, a WORKING beauty :) I'll be posting some images as soon as I spare some time!

creationwatches were very professional and resolved this issue we had, my big recomendation for them!
