Re: CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL

Maybe they'd make it through customs if they were packed in beat-up cardboard boxes and wrapped in several layers of brown tape.

Re: CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL

Mike, please let us know how it goes. I'll be very interested to hear if you have any customs issues (I hope not). I'd love to pick up one of these for my office wall.

Man, I'm very interested. Germany is one of the more difficult countries to get reps into, no?

Re: CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL

unfortunately it is, but i think i will only have to pay 19% taxes and they hand me the guitar out.
as long as im not ordering 5 at the same time there should be no problem :D

Re: CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL

so today i finally received the guitar with no custom problems :D
i didnt order the one in my first picture because the wood on the back was not my style.
so i looked on samins site for a model that looks alike this Les Paul Signature from Slash :

399px-Slash_1.jpg

and i found it and orderd it from him for 320 $
so the guitar came very well packed in tons of bubble wrap

lp1.jpg

the case look quite nice, but feels very cheap

lp2.jpg

guitar was wrapped in bubble wraps too

lp3.jpg

lp4.jpg

so this is how it looks completely

lp8.jpg

lp14.jpg

lp13.jpg

the guitar itself feels very good and solid, the binding on the frets are good
also the tuners feel good and solid

lp6.jpg

so i connectet it directly to my speaker and played a little bit

lp7.jpg

played clean it sounds very nice and clear in tone.
but when gain is up it sucks
connectet to my digitech rp200 its okay, compared to my martinez les paul its not sounds not so fat.
i guess i have to install new pickups, because they are really bad.

heres a picture of the backside

lp5.jpg

and a few random shots from my dads music room where i usually play along with him

lp9.jpg

lp10.jpg

lp11.jpg

Im going to take some better pictures soon, but right now im going to play :D

Holy Mel Bay it usually takes me 15 minutes to unwrap a watch, but unwrapping that guitar looks like quite a chore.

Glad you got it in one piece....now I'm getting that Martin D 45 for Christmas. :D

Thanks for the pics..btw I like your sound room.

Looks nice...

So solid neck?.. Bindings good?... Frets solid/clean edged?... how does it "hold" a tuning?... Decent resonance/tone unplugged?

I may have to order me up one or two of these... I saw on the site a JEM edition Ibanez too.

Of all my guitars, I think only one has the stock electronics... so changing out would be expected.

Wow, I was kidding when I said that they could get it through customs if it was wrapped in several layers of brown tape! I guess that's the trick to getting things through customs.
Nice looking guitar. Thanks for taking the risk and sharing with the rest of us. I'll be shopping for one today....
