CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL [Updated with Pics]

i was wondering if anybody owns one of these chinese Gibsons and can tell me how good they are ?
i saw some of them playing on youtube, and they dont sound that bad.
right now im playing a rockson strat copy, which is really crappy.
so i thougt: hey, the chinese make nice reps of our watches, why not guitars?
i emailed the owner of this site: hxxp://www.samin.cn/index.asp
this les paul would come with the hardcase + shipping for 320$ to my door.

what do you think of this?

If I still playued I would jump on it to try it out. I guess it's worth a shot. The very least you can just get pick-ups that are the real deal or boy some EMG's and the electronics end is taken care of. Most of the gen guitars have asian electronics anyway and I remember hearing that even the hardware is machined in Pakistan and overseas. The bodies are sometimes outsourced to Mexico......nothing American is left except assembly and QC

I've got a '76 Les Paul Custom - heavy as hell, but I love the thing... never heard of reps! If they're any good, this could be interesting... hmm

I had a '75' Custom a long time ago. My friend and I went down to Ace Music in Santa Monica, he bought a black one and I got the cherry sunburst model..wish I still had it. But now I have a ES 137 and yesterday for birthday the wifey bought me a Fender G-Dec, a cool little amp for not so much money.

That copy looks nice. I wonder if you could change out wiring and pickups on it. Do some mods to it LoL.

yes you can, i saw a lot of reviews where people changed the standart humbuckers on these reps
against seymoure duncan ones. and they are really happy with it.
i think i should give it a try and just order one to see how good it is.
i thought about an epiphone les paul too, but aparently the chinese copys are equal to epiphone,
and they are cheaper too.

Wow, I didn't know they made copies of Les Paul's. These look pretty darn nice. It might be worth picking one up and using it to kick around instead of my gen.

Interesting....

I got a "Jay Turser" (turner?) LP copy off the 'bay a while back... a lot cheaper though... think I paid about 135$ shipped.
Other than the headstock sticker its identical visually.

Seller even offered to upgrade to the Gib LP markings on the trussrod cover and headstock for 50$... didn't go for it though.

I replaced the entire wiring harness with quality gear and some good pickups and it plays like a champ.

320$ isn't a bad price for a good guitar... no matter what the headstock says.
The one you have pictured appears to be a much nicer copy than what I got.. perhaps its time for another upgrade.
Keep us posted on how it plays/feels/sounds if you pull that trigger.

I want to say that when I first joined the forums last fall there where a couple really long thread on some of these guitars over at RWG. I think that the overall opinion on some of them where that are decent but you'll want to swap out the pickups.

yes but the shipping costs from most of the dealers there are 250$-300$
from all sites i found, samin has the best price of all.
the guitars come all from the samy factory anyway.
i emailed him again and i get the guitar and a gibson hardcase + shipping for 320$,
so i think i will order next week

wow-wee they have a fake Martin D-45 sunburst...Forget playability and tone and just hang it on the wall for show...if it gets stolen no bigee.

I was thinking the exact same thing. A sunburst would look beautiful on the wall (better than some weird painting). I don't want to hang my Gen Les Paul because I'm too afraid of it getting stolen, but a rep...
