E-buyer beware
I used to make a couple of bucks now and again buying watches on e-bay from guys who didn't know how to list them well and then re-listing them a couple of months later. (I had to wait 3 months for the sale to disappear from my feedback so people couldn't see how much I had paid.) However, this is exactly the sort of thing that has made me bring that sort of activity to a screeching halt. I traded mostly Oris and Wittnauer and could spot the fakes; which is to say, as far as I know, there aren't many good reps of those brands. Each time I thought of venturing into Omega or Rolex on E-bay, I'd see something like this and run screaming. Of note, this guy has 99.7% positive feedback but doesn't usually sell watches. The tip-off, though is the appraisal. That's a sure sign it's a fake, as is the line, "it was given to me as a gift." With all that said, I'm totally getting that model rep... or maybe I should get the 111H. Decisions, decisions.
