Case back alignment

What's everyone's feelings about not having a caseback lining up through the 12 and 6 positions? It's irksome. Do many of you have reps where they get this right? Can you get it re-aligned or is that a massive job with the threads?

??? So with screw on caseback's with a logo they're not misaligned per se , watches are just sealed up in the production line , without any care that the logo ends up straight in the 12/6 postion . A case back takes so many turns to on the thread to fully seal . So the postion of the logo when you place the case back on the watch, engage the thread and begin turning , determines the postion the logo ends up in when the watch is sealed . If that makes sense ? So remove the case back and replace until you get it to line up at 12/6. Or better still if the logo isn't badly misaligned , the watch may looked sealed but the caseback still has a little bit of turn on it to fully seal which will straighten up the logo .

This should be done with the correct caseback specific tool /rubber ball etc

Okay I'll give it a go

But my £500 iPhone arrives with a nicely aligned back. This is a lazy effort from the factory 👍🏽 and one I'll spit my dummy for on the QC in the future :)

Your iPhone doesn’t have a screw in case back with an indeterminate thread threshold for sealing.

Almost every watch with a screw in caseback will have this misalignment, unless it’s a sterile caseback aka Rolex. Or the naiad lock system Omega uses on its planet oceans which lines everything up perfectly.

"OMEGA’s new patented ceramic Naiad Lock keeps the engraved wording perfectly positioned, so the caseback is even easier to admire"

If you RL rep or gen watches based on this you may as well buy an iwatch..

I always love your comments that slay the buyer who demands more of the rep world

And you and I shall lock horns I am sure in the coming years

And I'll enjoy it sir 😉 saying I lack common sense is a lazy response from you. As lazy as the kid screwing in my case back. Come on. You've made a lovely piece here. Don't finish in your hand. Make it count.

It all got started coz of a post this morning that made me think...huh. the backs off. My Belkin back is off so I'm not that fussed. But as I know about it now, if I saw it in a QC like this then I'd just go back to Andrew, Lucy etc and say...hey...mind lining up the back (but then it might be loose)

It's all a learning game Mr760 and your Porsche :)

This is what it should look like

And you know what. It should

£500 to some is a lot of hard earned toot to spend...so, let's get the factories to focus on non-rolex casebacks for our cash ❤️

If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have even known some casebacks are supposed to be aligned. I don't care one bit, not important at all to me.

It not laziness or an oversight. It’s engineering integrity v aesthetics. All case backs are machined and engraved separately and installed separately hence you get the variations. You can manually try and adjust it so that it looks balanced but you run the risk of over tightening and damaging the gasket or the threads or having a caseback that is too loose allowing for moisture ingress. Only manufacturers with snap in backs or case aka secured by screws will have engraved alignments. Screw in case backs will never have a perfect alignment.
I would suggest you re set your expectations as they are unrealistic.

If this guy below can’t get it spot then no one can.

To add….
If the case back alignment bothers you, then don’t even attempt to look at screw in crowns with logos…
You’re likely to neck yourself over that one.
Easy fix... Just turn the crown counter-clockwise until the logo is aligned. I'm sure this shouldn't be as bad for WR as it seems.

By the way, if this thread isn't sarcasm or a parody or something like that, but actually meant to be serious, taking a computer-generated marketing photo off the Panerai web site to prove "how it's supposed to look like" is slightly delusional. 😂

This is how the case backs actually in real life look like:

You can do that but depends on crown position when fully screwed down. I know some of my watches would need almost a full turn back out to get the logo sitting top side up. In that case the crown sits too far out and looks unscrewed.

You'll be popular with the TD's :D.Your Iphone is assembled by a trillion dollar company in a high tech prodution facility, with meticulous QC . Your 'fake ' watch is assembled in a Chinese chicken shack in an illicit facility run by a criminal enterprise .

That's a stock photo used for advertisement. The genuine Panerai doesn't have a caseback that lines up like that. My gen Omega doesn't line up either.

Even better, the logo on my clasp is slightly off center.

...And yes, I agree, @BMW760 does have a nice Porsche.
