Hey so I've seen some posts that describe the watch as a cartel piece. Where does this derive from?

I can tell you this: It's not the same cartel that cuts peoples heads off in Mexico...
Also, I believe the "cartel" members are Trusty Time and Perfect Clones (correct me if I'm wrong). A quick generic search for "cartel" should bring up plenty of threads with info for you.

When I search cartel all that comes up is watches that members add cartel to. I don't see any explanation in the thread.

Yeaaahhhh. They're mainly for drugs. However, they're probably cheaper than watches:hehehe:
Same for the most part, but if you buy from josh or Andrew the mods on this forum won't help you in case anything goes wrong. I have bought from josh before for vintage models, never a problem.
I've been seein this cartel yachtmaster platinum dial. Was wondering if any other dealer has that or it's just these guys?
Cartel doesn't have their own factory. Any of our TDs can sell you the same watch.

If you gents "read" (Like the first two sentences) that link that redrising was kind of enough to link you to, you will know why they were booted here. As Luthier and others have said, they all get these watches from the same place. It's not that you can't/shouldn't use them, we just don't have the enthusiasm to go to bat for you should a problem arise and I doubt you would need our help anyway, that is pretty much a company with employees and overhead. You will pay more in some cases.

OP, people generally call watches "cartel" because they are either speaking of a model that
a) josh and andrew have posted the watch first before some other dealers (in the case of the yachtmaster in question), and lacking a better designation for it, they called it a cartel watch
or
b) in the case of a lot of vintage models, there are models that J&A carry, and there are models that Angus carries. The other dealerss will sell you either one, but when people talk about "puretime 1680" vs "cartel 1680" that's what they are on about.
At any rate, you can buy that yachtmaster from TimesShops here, or I am pretty certain Ryan/Intime has them listed, and Lion City also has them listed.
Please do read the link given, I found it very informative on how things are dealt with here on the forum. Knowing this gave me much confidence on the guys running this place.
