Beside that painfull episode of a lesson, I have to say that I'm impressed with how effective Cape Cod is. Fixed a lot of polished parts on various watches so far... Saved probably a good amount of costs as well vs. bringing them to a watchmaker to be polished.
You just have to prepare everything correctly and know what you're doing and not think you can just work on something spontaneously without the right preparation.![]()
Cape cloth will polish out the scratch and nicks but will leave fine polishing marks, when you shine a torch at diff angle you will be able to see the polishing marks.
I use Sunshine cloth after Cape Cloth. Sunshine has a finer polishing abrasion than Cape Cloth. Sunshine cloth will bring out the deep shine.
