Are all movements outside of the Asian 2824, 2836, 6497, etc.. considered the Asian 21J movement?

For example would the 4813 be considered 21j movement?

Here's a link to some movements that I would think fall in the 21J category.

Can anyone clarify?

Not all the movements outside the ones you've mentionned are considered 21j. The term "21j" is used to describe low quality asian automatic movements (chronographs excluded).

The 4813 being just a 2813 with upgraded frequency, it is considered a 21j as well.

Hey Wiz can you give me an example of which ones aren't in the 21J league from this link?

The 2813 is a 21J movement. It's a lower beat version of the 2836.

Sorry mate, I think you're mixing the numbers up here. The 2813 is a copy of an old Miyota movement, it has nothing so do with the 2836 which is an ETA movement.

Yes. What I meant was that the factories use it in watches to replace a 2836 , for a lower priced watch. But you are correct, neither movement has any correlation to each other.

Well, it's kind of hard to answer that question. It's not really like there is a certification bureau that gives movements the 21j label. :)

It's just a term we use to describe low quality asian automatic movements that are not chronographs. So according to that definition, I guess pretty much all the automatic movements on that page that are not chornographs or ETA clones can be referred to as 21j.

Still not sure what you mean. :)

Most of the time the reps with 21j movements comes with lower quality parts than the ones with ETA or ETA clones movements. There are some exceptions but these are quite rare.
