Calling Panerai experts: Your fav GMT or Chrono model

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to Panerai and need some help choosing a GMT or Chrono model.

I currently only have a Daylight with a 7750, but am not a big fan of the overly recessed date... I would like something more accurate - and yes, I can do without the date.

I like the new Flyback, but don't like the fact that it actually doesn't fly back....

So, here's my question: what is your all time GMT or Chrono rep, particularly in terms of its accuracy compared to the gen?

Looking forward to your suggestions!

The 7753 Daylights are way more close to gen... but even much more expensive!!!

Expert please correct me if I'm wrong...

To me PAM 63 GMT is very accurate ... apart from the date mag and date fonts. The rest is great. Ok one more thing, could use a superluminova.. :D

It might not be a very accurate rep, but, I really like my 029a, and it has served as a 'beater watch' on occasion. Out of the box, it is water resistant, keeps good time, and is very versatile. I recently wore it on vacation on a 24mm rubber dive strap, but did take a smart leather strap as well, so I could have worn it in a nice restaurant if needbe. As it was, it never came off the rubber strap. No one commented on it, nor did I notice anyone 'eyeballing it', but, it served my needs perfectly

What about the PAM089... have seen some pretty accurate ones.

Roost please gave some direction to a good PAM 89 as I like that too. But most 89 rep I see, aside from the same date mag and fonts problem like the 63, the biggest tell to me is that the hand is too thin.. My friend own a gen and the hand are real fat.

The 186 and 252 (GMT's) both look pretty good... the updated newer version of both. Both suffer from a loose bezel... but other than that, they are pretty spot on.
They are also rare enough limited editions that pretty much no-one has ever laid eyes on a gen.

I loved my old version 186 for about a year and a half before its rotor screw got itself missing (perhaps never existed... can't find it in the case/movement anywhere)... I'm thinking its time to update my 186 to the new version.. but the blue dial of the 252 calls to me.

The reps 063/029 use the same hands, and the hands are too long for the 063.

Saw a good one from DSN, but the dial was blue rather than grey (anthracite). Not sure if he supplies it with the correct dial. Also saw some good ones with the correct dial (from the Cartel & Co) but I think they were SS rather than Ti. The best ones I have seen were actually on sale from members here... But alas, they've long gone...

Does anyoner else know a good source for one of these?

Haven't notice that before.. But now that you've mention it, I checked.. You're absolutely right.. Thanks man.. :D
Do you know where I can find a more accurate hand?

I second that..
And I think that's my next move.. The 12 and 6 fonts is too thin.. it should be thick like the previous flyback 212 i think..

I remember something about a misspelling with that version though... maybe "tachymetre" on the bezel? And a couple more issues with the case... For $500 extra, not worth it I think.

The recessed datewheel is not very obvious. I would strongly recommend PAM196 chrono with old case.

Yeah I agree. But obvious spelling inaccuracies make me nervous. Having said that, this is minor because it's a just a question of US vs UK English spelling... So not so bad I guess...

I also find the 228 quite tasty!!! But the best one I have seen has yet another misspelling on the case back...

(START OF SIDE WHINGE - I don't get these guys: they can replicate the most minute detail and then they stumble on something as stupid as basic spelling. If this is not your first language, wouldn't you just go through something like that 100 times until you're sure you got it right?? If I was replicating something in Turkish or Latvian, I would check every single letter a gazillion times... - END OF WHINGE)

Hmmm... I am not so sure about the misspelling (I thought it's correctly spelled tachymetre).

The one suffers from this flaw is Chopard MM GMT Chrono rep. It's tachometer instead of tachymeter.

For the chrono I believe you should go with the 253, you do not have the date issue but as you already said, no flyback. I had the 089 with blue dial and that has a flaw at 9 but somehow it was not my watch. I also had the 089 with Ti and that was modded by vaccum, but I found out that that watch was to light for me. No TI boy. The 253 I have has the big fonds like the gen, all other out have small fons. That watch is definitly a so call keeper. I also have a ultimade 186 GMT with new fons and AR, sometimes I like the watch and sometimes it could go to the sales section.
