I am looking to purchase a Cartier Ballon Bleu 42mm SS, most likely from Hont. He has a few on his website, and I am not familiar with the different movements.

One is a Nickle Plated Swiss Eta 2892-2 , 21J, 28800bph as seen here:
http://hontwatch.com/productdetails_1355.html

The second is a Swiss ETA-2824-2 25J automatic with 28800vph as seen here:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/...23?t=61423&highlight=hont+cartier+ballon+bleu

The third is a Swiss ETA2892-2 21J automatic movement at 28800 vph as seen here:

Why is this one $628?

I don't really care about price. I just want a high quality watch that is as close to a gen as possible.

Q1: Which would you recommend, and why?

Q2: What is the difference between the two movements?

Q3: What will be the major flaws from these reps compared to a Gen?

Thanks much.

Hi I am also in the market for a Ballon Bleu. I believe that the difference in price between the two 2892 movements the one from Hont and Puretime is due to the detailing on the movement.
Check out my thread perhaps it would prove helpful to you. Marvelous Replica has some nice Ballon Bleus also. There is one that MR claims to be of very high quality which is selling for $378.00. Check out his posts on the thread for the links.

This is the link to my thread:

What are the differences between these two Carier's?

Good luck :)

The Ballon Bleu is now out in an updated version.

Before buying, please consider that this is a USD 100.000+ piece in its gen form. Will anyone ever belive your wearing the real thing? And apart from that, it has som very obvious flaws.

im not sure which ballon bleu you are referencing at over $100k.

i had the all SS version that i had for a very short period of time and sold it to a friend. I miss it and want another now lol

it was very nice and very close to the gen as I compared them at an AD. The gen is under $5k USD.

Frank, I am not sure what you are talking about. I went into Cartier the other day and even the Ballon Bleu made with white gold is only $40k. Of course the SS version is much cheaper..
