Should I pull the trigger? It seems like a pretty good deal, and I don't think they made any reps of these tuning fork watches.

Certainly not a rep, but for that price...

I dunno, maybe its in bad condition. But my accutron was $2000+ brand new.

I see one ding in the case, but I think most of that should be able to be buffed out. I just like the idea of having a piece of history in my watch box, and this is the cheapest I could find.
There's one of these still on the moon in the Sea of Tranquility... that's pretty incredible.

Sea of Tranquility, should I know what that is?

Anyway. Go for it if you want, I can't seem to find anything wrong with it, other than signs of wear.

It does run well right? Because I had a watchsmith quote me a price for how much it is to fix one of these things, not cheap...

There may not be any reps of the Space View, but from what I've read there are plenty of fakes. Also, is it running? A stated "dead battery" is usually something much worse in reality.

The sea of tranquility is one of the huge craters on the surface of the moon. They dropped teh watch there on the first moon landing.
68Olds It's ticking in the video he sent me. I didn't know there were fakes. That's what i was curious about. I'll have to do a little more research now. Than you!

It takes a 1.35 v battery which I don't believe is made anymore, but there are a few places with NOS of them. You can also substitute 1.5 v as well, with (from what I hear) no consequences on time keeping.
They are hard to find, I think, unless I'm wearing it, or showing it off I'll leave the battery out of it (if I get it). It's a hard decision between this or the new PAM rep I want.

Great that you got a video. What's the date code?

I was at the watchmaker this past weekend. He has a new spaceview re-release for only $3600 (yikes!) lol

I haven't gotten him to open it up yet to get that info ( I THINK the date is on the inside of the caseback for these models). Hoping to go look at it personally later this week if he hasn't sold it already.

It's good to see a resurgence of these old watches, but $3500 is crazy high.

This is the one I've been looking at. It is a 1968 with the 218 movement. Good luck with yours!

That thing is beautiful. Great, clean look, and the color is close to matching your car ;) lol
I've got a 62 Buick Wildcat, have to love the classics.

These are on eBay all the time- Myself, I much prefer the round case over this style. Here's a link to just one of a few that work on these. If you find one that looks like it's in great condition, but isn't working, then I'd consider having it serviced. On the one you posted, I'd pass.

I'm not gonna lie, the color match (and year match) did occur to me. :D lol

I bet you have even more fun than me finding parts for the Wildcat. heheh Cool car though.

Oh, there is no sourcing parts for this car. I have to work with what I have. Luckily my step-dad is an old school mechanic, and can fabricate the parts that I can't manage.
