Apologies for bumping this thread but which route would you take if not MQ? I m in the process of building one too - collecting parts now - ideally I would like to build a Marine Nationale blue dial - and I would be interested to hear your view about which case you would get.

Unfortunately, at the moment you are limited to either Phong or MQ for a close to gen case.

Thanks. Yes, I re-lumed them. I do my own mods. Case needed work too.
If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t buy an MQ case. The quality wasn’t great for the price and MQ is a pain to deal with.

Did the wso bezel fit perfectly with the mq case without modification.? Do you know if wso bezel can fit gen crystal and gen insert..

It’s important that the crystal fits the case and then the retaining ring of the bezel assembly fits snuggly over the crystal. I used a Sternkreuz T19. Tbh. I don’t know if a gen would fit. Btw. I have since updated the watch with a CAC insert and an HR dial.

Hopefully the world has moved on from Phong inserts, now - the devil is in the detail but they really aren't great.

CAC has so many options these days, unless you're going GEN, there isn't really a need to go anywhere else.

Yes, it was a custom job though a while back. I did the lume.

Great matte texture on that HR dial - very nice! Even the CAC bezel is giving me GEN-texture vibes. Great!

Thanks. A light dusting of matt varnish did the job for the texture on the dial.
