Hi everyone, dreadful thing happened today... and I need your help. While I was adjusting the time on my watch I accidentally made a huge mistake. The first issue was the crown wont screw in properly (common with these Omega reps) anymore no matter how hard I try to screw the crown back in, me being an idiot kept pulling the crown back and forth and was hoping for a miracle, well here's what happened:

Is it totally screwed (pun intended) now? I don't think the crown should ever come all the way out like that without opening the case back and pressing on the pin. Breaks my heart but I don't want to let this watch go and would like to consider my options before trying to sell for parts or tossing. The watch still works, keeps time, rotor still spinning, and no issues besides the crown.

Few Questions that I'm considering doing:

This particular watch has a decorated Asian 2824 as per: https://chazingtime06.co/products/s...11-best-edition-black-rubber-strap-a8806-free

1.) Would it still be worth it investing and trying to fix the Clone 2824? with the crown being able to pull without pressing on the pin I'm assuming it's totally ruined? I'm no watchmaker obviously lol.

2.) If I buy a genuine swiss ETA 2824, would the dial, hands, crown guard and the back decorations fit the genuine ETA 2824?

3.) Do we have a reputable watch maker that works on rep that resides in Canada that can maybe fix this? or do a movement swap and alter if necessary? If so, kindly please recommend so I could get in touch with them.

4.) ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

Please help. Thank you.

Usually a pretty simple fix. Research how to fix the keyless.

1. Doubtfully ruined- most likely related to a keyless issue

2. An eta 2824 should be compatible swap

3. I'm not personally knowledgeable regarding Canadian watchsmiths available
I would check the list here on RWI
If you can send it to NY - try misiekped

There's the silver lining I'm hoping for. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I'll exhaust my options first within Canada as I don't want to risk it being seized.

Watched a YouTube video regarding Keyless Issue it looks like your right, hopefully it's just that. Regardless I don't think I should be fiddling with the watch myself and would rather have someone who is qualified to service it for me lol.

I'm thinking of going in to a few of the limited watch smiths here locally, in person, see if they can help me. At least I know now that a gen 2824 would fit and could ask them to do a swap.

You can purchase a Clone ETA 2824 in Ebay and replace yours.

If all options are exhausted, that's the plan. As of now, the watch is en route to Avee @ Ontario, and hopefully he's able to fix it. If not it would be nice to have a genuine ETA in there. Thanks for the input!

Easy fix...as others suggested, just need to find the right watch smith. As for gen ETA and clone 2824...both have the same dial feet positions, hand sizes, and use the same stem (well in most cases, some clones have issues with the gen stems that have a shoulder on the guide diameter, but it's an easy fix as well to get rid of it...and not all clones suffer from this).

Also, lately I have been questioning replacing clone ETA's with gens and I am beginning to fall on the side of "stick with the clones". Gen ETA's have a much better 'finish' on the parts, but clone parts are not that bad...and properly serviced they are actually very good. But what sways me now is the clones (at least the $60 ones on eBay) have fully jeweled autowind mech and the winding bridge has a jeweled arbor. The gen ETA's do not...at least the lower end ETA's...not sure about the high end ETA's (you can buy a 2824 at different levels). Just my 2 cents....

What's the latest on your watch? Repaired?

Avee worked on my watch. he fixed one of the issue, which was the key work. Movement is now fixed and good to go.

Second issue, is the Crown not being able to screw in to the case. Unfortunately he couldn't fix the issue. His diagnostics was that the tube was stripped. I emailed Toro for the parts he said he couldnt source it. Emailed Puretime as well, they quoted me $80 for the tube crown and stem.

I don't have the watch yet, still in Ontario with my brother, but Im doing my research and found a bunch of crown tube in Aliexpress along with a crown tube remover, lol. They're fairly cheap so I might give it a try fixing it myself.

I agree, from what I've read, there's really not that much point replacing the movement to a gen ETA. Even if it does brake (thankfully mine didnt) I think I'd still use a clone one due to price.

Now my last issue is the tube. I won't have the watch until later on but I'm anxious if the tube is a screw down or not. Lots of research to go lol. Thanks for chiming in.

If anyone have any previous experience with this issue and want to chime in. Please feel free to do so. Here's a photo of the tube and crown.
