Hello everyone. Years ago, a dear friend of mine gave me a Breitling replica. I never wore it, but then he passed away so I started to wear it. A few years after that, I was in an unfortunate mugging incident and the watch got broken. Fast forward years later and I now wish to get it worked over, that is if it is even worth the expense. I almost want to do it no matter what as a remembrance, but I am afraid that it might be too far gone. The crown snapped off and a piece of the movement is floating around inside. Obviously it doesn't run and hasn't in years. Is there someone recommended that I could get in contact with and send them the watch to diagnose and possibly restore?
I have just recently, like in the just last two weeks, gotten interested in buying a nice watch which helped fuel my wanting to have this one fixed. I really don't know much about watches as I have only just now been bitten by the bug, but I am beginning to marvel at their beauty and the genius inside. I am afraid that watches might now become like my guitar obsession!

Hello and WELCOME to RWI from the official reception desk!

You are receiving this reply because you either posted in the "new members say hi" section or one of your first posts elsewhere. In the latter case, consider introducing yourself in the above mentioned section.

If you haven't already, make sure to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections). They contain important essential information and our forum rules! Most importantly our sales rules, because you will NOT yet be eligible / allowed to sell unless you meet certain criteria / are certified first.

A good starting point is this list of resources on RWI:

Also, take a look at this sticky thread:

And this one:

If you need any further assistance, feel free to contact me or @Feefo!

We love to help, but please allow some time for PM responses as we have lifes outside of RWI!

Sorry about the pictures. Not sure why they are cut in half like that.

Have you tried Cape Cod ?

In the winter ?

The piece inside that's loose is a decorative plate, it can be reattached. Looks like the stem snapped, hopefully you still have the winding crown as a replacement stem is an easy fix.
The are several watchmakers in the US, have a look in the horologists sub forum.

Unfortunately, I do not have the winding crown. It must have broken off when I hit the ground.
