Brand new TC V6 failure

Wait for TC to repair it?? F that, if you bought a brand new overpriced watch from him he needs to make it a priority to get it fixed not make you wait.

That's not the way it works if you read all the posts in various threads here, or on RWG. We wait months just to receive our watches to begin with, then must wait many more for a repair. Which is why I don't wish to send it back.

I know you said this in your first post, but you did give it a proper manual winding (30 or so rotations of the crown pulled out in the first position)?

I only ask because I know my other reps seem to get enough power for the movement by just a few shakes of the watch. When I received my TC, it was already running. I wore it for a day and it stopped working. I emailed TC and he asked that I give it a proper manual winding. Since then, I've had no issues. But I know when it did stop, shaking the rotor/watch didn't give enough power to start the movement. Even the gentle tap of the case against the palm which usually results in several rotor spins didn't fire it up.

The first thing I did when I received the watch was manually wind it, a good say 15-20 turns. It had stopped when I woke up the next morning. I again manually wound it about 20 or more turns, and it once again stopped later that day.

that really sucks. your having a similar problem to me. I just sent mine back last Saturday to Kelly in UK, then she forwards to TC in California. Thomas told me it would be about 2 months wait until I should even think about it. so I'm expecting 3 lol. took 65 days from payment to receipt in Germany with added triangle shipping from UK. hopefully 2nd time is a charm. on the other hand he is repairing it free minus the shipping. which I'm sure is costing him more than I pay. it's a damn shame he's not using a gen 2824 for that price I expect more. something needs to be done about this! seems like every other person is getting a faulty movement. I won't blame TC directly, because I used to work for UPS and nobody takes care of anything lol.

BTW it cost like 8€ to send lol. and if TC can't get it right lol... I'll be getting a gen 2824 installed by dominico. sourcing movement plus shipping and work will be about 250€. and officially move me over the 1000€ mark into my TC v6 with gen insert... in that case I will moist likely never sell it. I'll be in to deep

Kohr,
your doing the right thing by sending it to a modder. You might also source a Swiss eta and just swap the whole movement. The TC DWO will go right on the new eta no problem. Maybe pm BKLM as well he would probably also do this upgrade.

I bet you could pick up a Swiss eta for under $100 usd if you were patient.

Great advice Jeff...
I to would send to Kor7 and have him either fix the issue or buy a used swiss movement and have it installed!
Sending it back to TC is going to take a long time and you going without your watch even longer...It happens with every dealer...out of thousands of reps that are sold they are going to be issues that will take place...its nothing that you can predict !....Just correct the issue and move on!....Also it will up the value of the piece having it fixed and serviced or up grading to swiss...

^^^ IF you bought it brand new It IS the DEALER problem. It might be because of shipping etc etc.....BUT.....there should be some kind of arrangement to fix this. Most dealers offer a working watch upon arrival or they will gladly accept it back and fix it.

You should expect a working watch. Would you buy a car that doesnt run? a PC that doesnt turn on? a phone that doesnt make phone calls?

Sure this is the rep game but buying something new should be working. If you expect anything else you are a sucker.

M2M maybe different.

To be clear, TC never tried to shirk responsibility. Once I told him what the problem was (rotor unwinding the movement/bad reversing wheel) he immediately offered to fix it and told me to send it in. He just left out the part about waiting 2 months and hasn't responded to any emails since I sent it back.

It's still my opinion that if the reversing wheels are the problem then you can have it fixed yourself in a matter of hours. You won't spend any time without your new watch and you'll learn a bit about it at the same time.

Of course everyone expects a working watch mate but the buyer is responsible for reading the seller's terms and conditions. Its quite normal for the seller to assume 'shipping and customs risks' unless the seller has a specific guarantee policy.

If no warranty is offered then the buyer cannot demand immediate assistance with any "issues".

What protection does the seller have against a buyer who drops the watch 2mins after he opens the package.

I've had some very bad selling experiences lately and that's why i try to see it from the sellers perspective as well as the buyers.

I know all about the long waits, my point is that's BS, you pay a lot for those TC watches (overpay I think for a rep) if there's a problem especially considering the watch is brand new it should be handled with haste.

From what I understand, TC sends the movements out to a shop for repair. So there's that time, his own handling time, and whatever else that gets in the way of those things..

I'm not making excuses for it. It does seem like a long time and there are more than a few reports of similar movement failures. More than you'd think for the average "whoops, I dropped it now I want TC to fix it".

As for the price of the rep... everyone has an opinion and everyone is certainly entitled to let their money do the talking.

The thing about the TC watch is that it's a masterpiece. I'm sorry to hear that you got a lemon. On e you get it going, which I hope will be very soon, you'll have a hard time taking it off your wrist. I have a gen 16710 and prefer the TC 16610. I got mine in m2m so I didn't have to endure the wait. I'd also suggest finding a local guy or trusted modder for a quick turnaround. You've waited long enough.

YES. Especially when he's sending out watches to people who paid AFTER I (and others) sent them back for repair.

F that, I'd be pissed if it was me. Everyone acts like they need to kiss his F'ing ass because he has the perceived best rep. Pay TC, get in line, shut the F up and wait. WTF is that shit??
