BR01-92 Heritage QC Pics With Correct Dial Markings (2012)

Was strolling on RWG and decided to purchase a BR01-92 Heritage Edition after seeing this picture:

heritage2011.jpg

I noticed the incorrect marking on the dial saying BR01-94, the dial markings being more of a yellow color instead of sand, and the possibly lighter leather strap, but decided to order it anyways since the price of $75 shipped (+5% Paypal fees) couldn't be beat.

I was pleasantly surprised to get this QC pic in my inbox:

As you can see, the dial has been corrected to BR01-92. The color still seems a bit too yellow, so I'm willing to bet it hasn't actually changed at all, it just happens to be a much better picture than the one from 2011.

Unfortunately, the back engraving doesn't seem to have improved at all:

:picard:
(FYI - If you don't see it, the engraving is really shallow or maybe just etched, the hex screws seem smaller/fake, the "Quartz Movement" is incorrect as it should be an Asian 2813 clone, the spacing is non-existent in DONOTUNSCREW, and I have no idea what Miliary means)

I'll post some pics as soon as I receive it, unless someone on here decides to order it as well with the faster $30 EMS Express shipping and beat me to it. ;)

Awesome looking watch! What puzzles me is why isn't there any rep BRs in the market that comes with the right marking, seems like an easy fix to me.

Yup! I'm definitely looking forward to getting it on my wrist.

I have no idea why all the case markings are wrong. Perhaps the factories are saving money by producing only the most popular model's casebacks, and using it on other models? That's the only explanation I can come up with.

I've seen people say that B&R watches aren't that popular as replicas, since they're relatively inexpensive compared to Panerais and Rolexes.

Yeah, you may be right. I'm still waiting for 1 that comes with the correct back case engraving - hopefully it will come soon, this small little detail has been putting me off in getting a BR for months and would really love to get one being a BR junkie myself :)

So is there still only a cheapy of this one? No sapphire, quartz movement right?

I assume no sapphire, but other reviews I've read stated Asian 21J Auto movement. I'll see soon (hopefully)

Ok, that was way too fast. Attempted delivery on 2012/06/08, picked up at Post Office 2012/06/09. The movement is an automatic movement, and listening to it I'm confident that it's 21600bph (counted between 15 and 16 sets of 4 ticks in 10 seconds) which I assume is an Asian 2813 movement.

Here are some initial pics from the car after picking it up from the Post Office:

Packaged extremely well. Annoyingly well actually. Took forever to open.

img20120609110452.jpg

The way it was wrapped up and rolled in bubble wrap, it came with the strap already curved and "broken in" instead of straight, if you care about that type of thing.

Size comparison with the BR03-92 I was wearing

img20120609110628.jpg

img20120609110645.jpg

Fake engraved hex screws on back, flat head screws on lug. All sorts of mistakes in engraving on back. Never let anyone see this. lol

img20120609110726.jpg

img20120609110740.jpg

The strap doesn't fit in the first keeper! Had to just go over it into the second one. Buckle has BR painted on. Keepers seem like they'll rip in a few days. Strap itself is actually quite nice quality though.

Final wrist shot!

I swung by Home Depot to find a paint color sample that matches the coloring on the dial. There has been much debate over how the dial is far too yellow compared to the "sand" color on the genuine. I can say in my opinion that this color is a great match with the strap, and does not seem too yellow at all when viewed by itself. I have no idea how it compares to the gen in real life, but when viewed on a web page the replica does look more yellow, but the color comparison between the dial color and the strap color seems perfect.

I have no idea how to convert this to RGB or CMYK, and google just confused me with a million different color conversion calculators. I'm sure someone out there can do it though.

br0194original.jpg

br0194colormatch.jpg

Photoshopped with Hue -10 and Saturation -50 to match dial colors. As you can see, the dial color and strap color both seem to be equally saturated in real life, so the ratio stays the same.

As a replica, I'd probably give this a 3/10 for accuracy and replica quality. Perhaps the colors are actually wrong, I don't know for sure. The screws on the case front are already somewhat chewed up. The back engraving is just embarrassing. There's no lume at all. The keepers on the strap are horrible, as is the buckle with the painted logo instead of the engraved logo. I'm afraid to wear this in the rain, and it's too shitty a replica to take to a watchsmith for water proof testing. In comparison, I'd give my BR03-92 from Puretime an 8/10 for accuracy and replica quality.

But... and it's a big but, I love this watch so much more than my BR03-92. This watch was $75 plus extras, while my BR03-92 was three times as expensive. I love the colors on this more than the stainless steel and rubber combo. While I was complaining in another thread about how the BR03-92 had no texture to the numbers on the dial, look at the dial on this BR01-92:

The hands and numbers are more pronounced on this $75 watch than on the $225 watch. I know I'm being biased because I love this color scheme more than the other, but I'm looking at the face of the watch every single time. I'd take a nicer quality dial over a perfect caseback, lug, and crown.

I'm confident that if I wear both watches equally for a year, my BR03-92 will look almost as good as new, while this watch will look like garbage with scratches and paint rubbed off everywhere. But for $75, I'd rather just buy another one when the time comes. ;)

Fantastic review! The size difference between the BR01 and BR03 doesn't look that apparent if you don't put them side by side - even if they were put next to each other, BR03 looks a good size imho.

Can't agree more with the shitty case back engraving, here I am at it again, does the BR03-92 come with the correct case back?

Can't wait for one with the correct engraving to lay my hands on one, hopefully soon.

Thanks! I agree that the BR01 and BR03 seem extremely close in size. They both look the same size when I wear them individually, and only seem slightly different when side by side.

The BR03-92 I got from Puretime has a much more accurate caseback. There are no fake engraved hex screws, the lugs have proper hex screws, and there are no typos. The only problem is the serial number on the back says BR03-97-00176 instead of presumably BR03-92-00176. I was really bothered when I saw it in my QC pics, but now I don't think that's a huge deal since hardly anyone is going to see it on the back, and if someone does see it and asks, I'll just say that BR03 is the model, and the rest of the numbers are the serial number. I personally wouldn't worry about it.

I think you have the right attitude toward this rep. It cost $75. For that you are getting a helluva lot of watch!

Since no ones knows I found out Mary is a TD from RWG from WatchInternational. Se also emailed me saying that she cannot the BR01-92 but only the 94 In the heritage. Either she is sold out or you bought it from someone else?

Being a noob to B&R, I didnt realize the 94 is for chrono. She said she only had the 94 which means it is the 92 with the wrong name on the dial.

I went ahead and purchased it anyway. I mentioned the lik at RWG but she said she still wanted to charge 28 for shipping EMS instead of the free shipping option.

The good thing about watchinternational is the quick responses to emails though.

Mine arrived and I couldn't be happier, especially for at a third the cost of all my other reps.

I'm also in the market for one of these but i'm in a very risky customs country.

Does any of you live in the UK? And could help me out here? So i can ship to you and you send it to me?

Nice! It'll be on your doorstep in no time. I assume the BR01-92 marking was correct on the dial?
