It has gotten back to me that some of you are wondering where I've been. Hopefully this will 'splain you. For those of you who don't know who I am... Hi, I'm BigOffshoreDaddy. While not my original name, I am one of the original members of this forum. Albeit a noob member, but an original member all the same. For those of you who do know me, it's great to be here again.

Since this is both an explanation and therapy, I hope you'll bear with me.

Since December 2007, between the stock market, an ex-wife, a gold digging ex-girlfriend and the IRS, I lost just about my entire life's savings - 7 figures to be exact. What took me almost 40 years to accumulate was gone in about 18 months. Then thinking my job was safe, I was laid off from my upper five figure a year job. While all my money was gone, that was the one thing that held it together, and I lived well...until I was laid off. I thought I was safe.....geez. Then the unemployment took forever, jobs were tight, etc. etc. I was about a low as a man could be.

Those who know me know that I am a very proud and prideful man. I give more than I get and I ask for nothing in return. I have always been that way. One of the hardest things I did was to part with my collection. To say that selling a majority of my collection didn't hurt would be a lie. But to admit that I was in need - dire need - hurt even more.

Mick and the boys said, "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need." Truer words were never spoken. You know who you are, and I thank you all here for what you did for me.

I got a job, the work is steady, and things are looking better. Please know that, despite my absence, I abandoned no one. I just had to prioritize things. I hope you all understand.

While some of my efforts have been redirected right now, that does not mean that I'm gone. This is, and will always be, my home, and I have always had this forum's best intrests at heart. Please know that I will continue to do all that I can to make this place a better home for everyone.

Let me get off of my soapbox now...we now return you to regularly scheduled programming.

So...who has the best sub? :D

My sympathies goes to you for what you have been through,
it takes a mentally rock solid man to get back on his feet after going through what you have just described.

My wishes that life brings you great things in the future and that you will be able to enjoy them even more than you were before, knowing now how bad life can treat you!

Well done on getting it back togheter!!

Cheers
Mike

Hi BOD,

I've seen the pictures (i hope you're still keeping the lose weight regime) and I've seen the sales threads...

Glad that you're back and wish that the days ahead will be for the better! Nobody can put a good man down, not even the taxman. :D

Best regards,

Hey BOD,

You are on the right track. Good for you, man.

Funny, I just mentioned in another thread that I'd given my wife a small military watch to bring her into this crazy hobby. It was that WWII navy watch from your collection. She loves it. So please know it went to a good home (and onto a sexy wrist, I might add!)

Keep the faith, B. We're here for ya!

She was glad to oblige. She asked me to put it on a NATO band. Do you approve?

My dear BOD... I was just asking another member about you last week, and they replied that they had not heard anything from/or about you in quite some time.
I have a PM coming your way...

I've had the pleasure of dealing with BOD both as a seller and a buyer and he was always great to deal with. I am glad to hear things have turned around for you and I wish you all the best in the future.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, BOD. I certainly can sympathize with the IRS and ex-wife problems. Hang in there, buddy!
