The long stem and cheapo movement makes it hard to sense the quick date set position.
The trick to it is to pull the crown fully out and push it firmly in…but not too hard as the stem is very long, so fragile.
When you twist to screw, don’t do the usual half turn counter, just screw clockwise
When you need to set the date, very slight pull the crown once unscrewed, and set. Then crown pull out fully to time set, then push in as per above
