I'm sad they changed the movement away from the a2836. Very solid and easy to repair movement.

is it a different movement or just a clone 2836 built by Seagull instead of Hangzhou ? Seagull are generally thought quite solid.

I'm not sure but the one I bought from TD says "Asian 2836-2 25J automatic movement at 28800vph" in the description.

Weird. I've heard twice not a2836 and many times 2836. Maybe the promo pics are true and the marketing is wrong (I trust pics more)

I have opened my FF (ZF's) and there is Seagull's clone of 2836 inside

I will open mine up tomorrow when back home and take some pics. Will upload them here because i have no clue how to identify segull 2836 vs. A2836. From timegrapher pic mine runs at 28800bhp. I always thought seagulls running at low beat 21600bhp?

Seagull is probably most advanced Chinese movement manufacturer - so whatever they decided to design or to copy - is better than rest. In Seagull's catalog it is ST2100.

Exactly. It's an a2836 made by Seagull. The best possible choice apart from swiss if you ask me.

Thoughts on the ZF vs Noob on this one Jack. My experience with ZF has not been great thus far with a big pilot that arrived DOA.

You're not the first. I want to pull the trigger, but I don't want something DOA. Or worse, dead right after the warranty is up. Or it gets seized on the way back.
