I bought my Black Bird around a yaer ago in Bangkok from a local dealer. I was able to checkout the watch and do the QC check by myself. The watch came with the black leather strap and at that time the Pilot Steel bracelet was not available. The watch spent most of the time in my collector box. 2 weeks ago I decided to buy the Pilot Steel bracelet and the deal was made with Angus in 2 days. The price incl air shipping was 50 USD. I received the bracelet on Friday, 12 days after I sent my first mail to Angus.

This investment was worth it, it is a complete different watch now on that bracelet and I have a hard time now to make a decision between my last arrival, the SA which is still growing on me. But the Black Bird could win this raceuntil the black steel will arrive

Would love to have a reluming job done on this watch, it will be a keeper.

Here are some pics from this morning, enjoy

I didn't like this watch for a long time; mostly because of the subdials, which look small because of their shape.

It has really grown on me, and I think this piece is going to be my next rep.

Great watch GURU!

Question: Have you EVER had ANY kind of problem with the date wheels? Have they ever hung up at all?

Hi JB,
never had any problems with the date wheel. Resets to 0 perfectly when it jumps over 31. Also no problems with the movement, I got is serviced and it runs + 1 sec a day.

Definitely a keeper ! 8)

When possible (i.e. if available) I always buy both the strap and bracelet, as you never know how your tastes evolve : and it usually cost 20-30 dollars more, maximum.
However, 50 is a correct price and we're lucky we have some dealers proposing these things.

Nice shots too :D

I have one. It's a beautiful watch. This is actually the second Blackbird in my posession. The first I couldn't change the date on but had a perfectly centered pearl. The replacement works perfectly but the pearl is not as perfect as the first one. I have both bracelet/strap to switch around as well.

Hi,
I've seen it several time coming with the Ocean rubber strap (the one with perforations + deployment)
I'm seriously thinking to get one to replace my leather.
Opinions ?

IMO the watch is a bit too dressy for rubber. But if it works for you, then go for it!

I'm wondering also if there are other strap combinations. Indeed, I don't feel so comfortable with bracelets on thick watches. And I'm not 100% happy with the black leather/white stitching.

Hi Pix,

if you can get the BB with Ocean Racer strap, then grab it. If you like to change the starp you have an Ocean Racer for 22mm lug size. I have an Ocean Racer strap with 24mm size and I love the strap. I use it on my SA which is currently seeing the doc for movement swap. Hope I have it back on Wednesday.

My advice, get the watch with the ocean racer and the SS starp which is great. You always can put on a Steinhart leather starp.

Here some pics I took yesterday

I like the rubber strap better actually... it is not a "subtle" watch and that rubber strap gives a rugged-and-made-for-action look to the watch IMO; the leather and SS bracelet, although attractive, don't do that as well.

My $.02... pix

Good spot on the 24mm size, I did not notice that :(
Angus has 24 indeed...
Have to check if I can get a 22 somewhere...
The pilot strap does it nice on the SFSO too :)

None of my 3 Breitlings have a bracelet, don't know why, I just prefer straps on them...

You can get the 24 mm Ocean Racer strap for 90 USD and then just buy the 22mm rubber pieces from the AD for 60 Euro and you have that combo for around 130 EU instead of paying 450 Euro.

Put me in the Ocean rubber strap camp. It sets off the face and makes the whole look. I think th Breitling force is drawing me in. All are great watches, excellent pixs !

Thx for the tip Guru : just have to check if the rep deployment will fit the 22 gen rubber. But that sounds good indeed :D
