BKLM YM - How good is it?

Here is mine... wow, is this thing gorgeous or what

I have it on a NATO to preserve the beautiful bracelet in perfect condition. I think it matches nicely with the watch. It is black and grey, the camera picks up a little too much blue for some reason.

BK is fantastic at what he does, this is definitely a remarkable piece.

Please excuse the quality of these pics, I was too lazy to get my DSLR out so I thought my Evo would do.

FYI folks, word from BK is that the smith who made the bracelets and inserts is retired. He only has a set quantity left and expects no more. Get them while you can...

Personally i think the BKLM YM is the best value because its done... put it on and wear it no modding or waiting for parts and risking screwing something up during your modding. one thing that comes to mind he is using the Clark crystal and it doesn't have the etching. even a side by side compare is hard to tell the difference for general population.

I have been reading this post and staring at my BK WM9 YM then at the GEN pictures then back at my watch etc...
Except for the serif I markers (which I started convincing myself were really there on my rep!) they are the EXACT SAME watch!! Really amazing!

I coud never post pictures of mine to do it justice like don has done, but suffice to say they are 99% identical...dial color really does take on the hue of whatever color it is laying against!! Cool, I never noticed that before!!

I wonder if the serif I markers have always been that way?
I remember asking BK why his dial had the "Swiss Made" words separated whereas the Gen I was comparing it too had them right next to each other...he told me that Rolex changed the spacing from year to year so it was actually like a 2007 or 2008 model rep and I was looking at a 2009 (?) Gen. So, maybe some earlier model gens actually had san serif I's?

Good point. The gens seem to have very minor changes over the course of their production runs. Maybe there is a gen dial which uses a san-serif I at the hour markers.

So the hunt is now on . . . . Can any one find a gen dial version with the san-serifs at the hour markers? If so, the BKLM/WM9 YM will have no "tells" and will be identical to at least one version of the gen!

He's just messin' with ya.... he didnt mean anything by it. Sometimes theyll play with the lower post counters.

Here is the scoop in 60 seconds or less:

1. BK/WM9's Yacht is the best period in that line of watch. Its been compared to the T4D, I read the case made; still, I feel it to be night/day. Now the price certainly reflects what you are getting here. So bear that in mind.

2. George (WM9) is retiring from his craft so one last batch of bands were assembled (roughly enough to make 30 watches give or take) and sent to BK and of course for BK to do his thing and ship out the watches. You won't find a factory with this quality, thats for darn sure.

3. Due to this very small offering to close out the line forever, deposits went quick (and BK would have to confirm this for you-so do PM him about this) and all the remaining watches should be spoken for.

This was what the other guy was joking around about.....its going to be next to impossible to get one. Someone would have to canel and then I am sure others are waiting in the wings in case someone does etc, UNLESS you get one second hand sir.... be patient.

Ah, no, wrong on several counts mate. It's the blacksmith who made the bracelets that retired, not George and there are still some left AFIK, just not many.

Thanks for the replies guys. I love the watch and would really like to get one. I received a reply from BK this morning by email and he says he's trying to get more parts since the current batch is all spoken for, and that I should contact him again in a month.
Thing is.....waiting a month when he may just turn around and say it isn't going to happen.
It's torture!!
I've looked at the YM perfect on TS for $318 but I have to assume it's nothing like the BK version??
SaturdayKnight- you mention T4D- is it a good substitute? It's just that now that I've seen the pics of the BK YM and read the reviews, I've pretty much got my heart set on one.
What to do eh?

In my opinion the TD4 is just a constellation purchase if one is unable to purchase a BK yacht due to them going extinct. It is what it is.

Do you mean consolation? I don't think that's true at all. Some of us prefer the lower priced reps, so we can have more. I have 5 mid priced reps, instead of 2 high end ones. I prefer it that way, and I think a lot of others do as well.
