There’s a lot of different inserts, inserted in different ways.
However, it’s pretty much impossible to hope you’ll be able to shift an insert without removing the bezel first. And taking a wild guess that you’re referring to a 6-digit Sub or GMT, the process is a PITA and requires the appropriate tools.
