Benji the Bobcat

Thanks guys. made me smile reading these. lol. Yep. got snipped Tommy. New state law, so had to do it. he made it through just fine. I was never going to do the surgery because he had a stroke at birth and bobcats have a hard time waking up from sedation even with no health problems, so I felt he was at a greater risk. That didn't mean a thing to the state though. So I had to get him fixed. I'm just glad it went well. That hour or so after surgery waiting for him to wake up was hell. I laid next to him quite a bit and petted him.
He was so groggy for about 4 hours. and couldn't stand very well, as you could see in the video. but he's fine now. And no signs of any pain. He's purring and been giving me those awesome bobcat headbutts tonight. He's such a good boy. I've worked with a lot of bobcats and other species of wildcats at the sanctuary I volunteer at, and never have seen one as loving as he is. Just an amazing cat. and super intelligent. they have a very high intelligence level. Much like a dog.
Again, thanks for all your guys support the last few weeks leading up to this. It really helped. Glad I have you guys as friends.
Yep Rudy, if you're ever in the area let me know. I can set you up with accomodations here. and even a beautiful bobat that will purr like a freight train all night, so loud that you cannot sleep, then the kneading begins, claws into your chest, back, legs...... then at 8 in the morning almost exactly he will pounce on you to let you know it's time to eat. He has a built in alarm clock. lol seriously. He pounces and pounces until you wake up and feed him. and for those reasons. He has been kicked out of the bedroom. lol.

So glad to hear it all went well, I was actually thinking about you guys on Tuesday, probably just as the vet was asking for the "Testicle Bucket"!
I was surprised how little the same surgery seemed to bother my standard cat, i thought it'd at least feel like he'd been kicked in the nuts, but once the drugs had worn off he seemed fine. They are much tougher than us and seem to really be reassured by their owner/servant's comfort.

Thank you alex. yep, I watched the whole thing, and they got thrown right in the trash. Yes, it doesn't seem to have affected him one bit. It's like nothing happened. He is outside playing right now, running around in the snow. He loves the snow. I do notice that he is planting his butt down in the snow several times though. so it must feel good on his deflated flapjacks. lol. Thank you again.

Update on Benji, he's totally back to normal. Like nothing ever happened. He's running at full speed and playing good. I'm still keeping him separated from the dogs so he doesn't play too rough though. But all is good. Thank you for all the well wishes with him. I really appreciate it guys This is such a great community.
Well, it's been awhile since I made a new video. I finally got time to make one today. Benji is starting to shed his winter coat and lose a little winter weight too. He loves to go fishing so I put some goldfish in the pond today for the first time since fall, but he wasn't interested. lol. He will probably have them all caught and eaten by morning though. but I am determined to catch him on video fishing, so I will get some more tomorrow if he gets them all tonight, which he probably will. Enjoy.
No. he doesn't mind rain or snow. He's usually right in that water when I put fish in there so I was kind of disappointed when he didn't jump right in.
