lume looks great. I thought I had seen somewhere that the gen lume was a light blue color???

Also about the powder coating what color are you haveing the powder coat done in. I was thinking the same thing that powdercoating would be closer to gen then PVD, although I was considering using a coating product made for firearms that dries to a nice matte black.

The Blue Lume is for the Blue special edition that B&R offers. The orange, is a reddish orange lume. I have one B&R that was powdercoated with a fine grain and I love the result. The PVD is nice but I have seem somne other watches done and the color looks slightly off to me. I think you are referrin to K-coating ( Im not sure if thats right). My Sig Sauerneeded to be re-coated due to rusting issues when first issued, and now that you mention it, that would work and look great too. Worth a try!
The thing is the guy that does my powder coating does it for F R E E, he has a few contracts for cosmetics companies powdercoating various implemements, and My work just get's "added" into the batch.

I am anxious to see some lume shots when you get a chance. I have my first B&R coming so I am interested in anything pertaining to them.

Oh maybe the gen orange Special Edition hands are lumed in orange but see this post comparing the rep to gen it seems that the white numbers also get the blue'ish lume to them, I guess thats why I thought they all did.

Powdercoating would be great especially if done for free but here it would cost me a minimum of $100.00. I was thinking of my Glock but now that you mention it the finish on my Sig frame is closer seeing as it is smoother than my Glock slide. The stuff I was thinking about is this:

That should work. I would go with powdercoat becasue of it's overall durability. The K-coating should work but since the powdercoating is free. I'll go with the

Hey jdkno, why would you consider coating your Glock slide? The finish on your Glock slide is a special process called Tennifer. It is incredibly hard and durable because the process actually penetrates the metal and it has a rockwell hardness just under that of a diamond. The only thing comparable to it is Tangfolios Wonder Coating.

I already re-coated my Glock slide with Duracoat. Alot of people think that Glock's Tennifer is the black coating when in reality it isn't. Tennifer is applied to the bare slide, it absorbs into the slide and it would take some serious grinding to get it off. The black coating is just there for a bit more protection and to add the black color to it. My Glock slide was showing a decent amount of holster wear after carrying it day in and day out for a few years, some areas the black coating was worn down to the bare metal. I used a dremmel with one of thoes scotch brite type pads and removed all of the black coating. I kept the slide bare for a little over a year and never once got any form of rusting or corrosion on it. The only reason I coated it with duracoat is because no matter how many times I tried to buff and polish the slide I could never get a uniform finish on it, so for asthetics only, as protection was still there with the Tennifer, I coated it sniper gray.

I had the best experience with Everest! The total lume job was about $120.00 and it was a strip and re-lume. That's about the average cost for a dial and hands re-lume. He also pressure tested the watch to 165 feet so it's good to go for a swi or a rec dive. He did that own his own, it added $20.00 to the cost at first I was a little miffed over it becase I did not ask for itbut what the hell, it's peace of mind in the water. I guess it's standard practice and getting water inside a watch that just got lumed would burn my ass to no end!

He is rep-friendly as long as you give him a heads up initially. I just re-worked the caseback.

I have pics!!!!!

I've always liked the Bell's, but the orange is just a bit too subdued...

True, The back and white just pops. The orange is different and the Lume is as good if not better than the gens now. I have a few cases that are going off to powdercoat.

I already modified the casebacks and the powdercoat will give it the PVD ish look without the browning of some PVD's that I have seen. There are a few coating I can use but I get the powdercoat for free right now so...that's the way to go!

I asked silix for a BR 01-92 dial and hands in the classic white on black. All of these come with the usual POS asian movement in an ETA 2892 clone. The 2824 fourth wheel, cannon and hour wheel are the same size as the 2892 so the hands will fit right on and it will be ETA powered which is more true to gen, and much more reliable IMO. I'll prblably keep a black dial whie face hands set on hand with an ETA to swap out in the case when I am bored.

I have 3 right now, look in the sales section for the Special edition in blue real soon as soon as I am done modding her up, unless I fall in love with that one too.

Just got back the Special edition 01-92 in blue from IWW. Overall good work All I did was send the movement removed from the case and he did the rest. Going to re- assemble the Orange and Blue Special editions with their screw back case modds and fresh powdercoat in matte black. IMO it looks better than the brownish hue PVD that has been done in the past. It looks more like the gen and way more durable.

Looky :::

Ok, the Powdercoat did not come out as planned. I will post poics. Seems that the fine grain was not fine enough. Of the 2 cases one was decent because the engraving in the back was fairly deep. The other is covered over since the engraving was just etching. Needless to say lesson learned and I will be seeking a new black case and going the k-cote route. So I will be offering these less than perfect but powdercoated cases with caseback screws and lume (blue) shortly upon re assembly.Pics to follow

watchbuff, you are going to try and use the gun coating on it now? Please update me with how it comes out.

I used the Duracoat from Lauer Custom Weaponry and that stuff is thin. It goes on with an airbrush and drys hard as a rock. I finished my Glock slide on a Sunday and put 1000 rounds through it Monday evening and it held up great. I know you can still see all the lettering on the Glock slide but I will warn that if your next caseback has very shallow writting there is a chance that it could cover it some.
