I forgot what a PITA cutting a stem to the perfect length is. Especially when I had the dial spaced a bit too much and the stem was being angled in the case. In any case…resolved that, and here is the finished product! Raffles case, HR dial I aged, Tiger insert, Tiger hands, NH38 movement, and a cheap AliExpress leather strap (for now). Really pleased with how this came out for a relatively low budget build.

I decided that I wasn’t thrilled with the hands I did yesterday (sanded them a little too much and the gold was missing in spots) so I redid a new set of hour and minute hands today and did a bit more aging to the dial. Calling it good now!

Did Brevet crown came with Tiger case?

And although I do admire your build - I am having issues regarding bezel teeth nr. & shape... Not even close :(

Everthing else is very nice - exellent to say regarding pricewise.

One minor change I made today. The hands were still too shiny compared to any vintage gen photos I could find, and I didn’t want to risk sanding them any more and taking the gold off. So I hit them with 2 light coats of Testor’s matte lacquer. This helped remove the “shiny and new“ look. Luckily these hands are like $5 a set on AliExpress, so it’s cheap to experiment.

Keep eye on detail looks better. I need to do this
If you do it, I’d do a light mist only. After re-assembling, the hands looked too “chalky” under the plexi and too uniform in color and shine at basically any angle. I went back to different hands and lightly sanded them. Calling it done for a while...need to stop tinkering with this. Haha.

i do two things to age my hands.
spray alcohol and salt, leave for some time
rince and dry
then
spray mat varnish in a very short burst from a distance (just like for the dial technique)

this gives a rather credible oxidization pattern

Great tips. I ended up using vinegar, salt, and hydrogen peroxide to tarnish the hands. Then did a very light spray of matte varnish from a distance. Much better! I may continue experimenting on other hands.
