So.... Looks like MBW and Nymphomariner got the crystal height RIGHT! So seems they changed something on the case...

CONCLUSION:

TW best & MBW are NOT wort it anymore in terms of crystal height. The rehaut on the TWBest and MBW is correct but the Nymphomariner got this also quite right... just not deep enough, but still pretty good!

the bezel is to me the WORST point on the Nymhpomariner..... It really looks bad!

To me MBW is not worth it anymore due to its newest flaws like the wrong magnification. The Nymphomariner got crystal height and everything else right, but bezel teeth&rehaut.

You choose if you want to pay 350$+WU fees for a MBW that will need EVERYTHING replaced but the movement&case.It will even need a new cyclops!

BTW... My beginmariner (1 month old) did not have a raised crystal. it was flat !

MBW modern Sub is sourced in Taiwan. At least that is what the owner of mbw shop told me.

It won't be any better or worse than Taiwan best....

I'd say the MBW cyclop mag is almost spot on. 1st is MBW, 2nd is gen.
the noobmariners' actually too under.

I shrunk your pic, p, so it's easiser to see here. EL's ETA noob is a little better. There's obviously variance in the noobmariners but all in all mag is insufficient.

The only problem with saying this one has better mag or this or that, is the f'ing inconsistincy in these watches is unbelieveable. Buy a MBW or what ever one month and its great, but the next one you get has a crooked date window and its the same with all the reps no consistency what so ever.

Lets not forget that the date mag is tied into rehaut depth. Not deep enough then not enough mag, to deep and the date is way to big.

And yes, it is sad that there is NO consistancy in these subs.

Currently, all the cheap subs are good. Whichever one you get will have at least one thing wrong, but you're getting a steel watch with Sapphire and an Automatic Movement for around $100.

ps. You say you're after a cheap 1680 ... don't do it. Get an MBW as the crystal and bezel change make it excellent quality for not much more cash. A cheap 1680 looks like a cheap 1680. :shock:

Best low end sub is the Noob/Nymphomariner. That's it.

Beginmariner / Bunnymariner / Vipmariner Gen1/2 are not as good as it.

Beginmariner, bad datewheel, bad QC
Bunnymariner = VIP Gen1 : bit conical rehaut... not good dial......bad caseback
vip gen2 = conical² rehaut, date too right

yeah, i guess ill continue to pass on the sub, it never attracted me much when i first got into watches, it seemed like every one had it, every doctor i came across , just everyone. thats why i bought the gmt ii as my first rep beofre my panera madness.
