So here is the gen RM clasp. Characteristics are a flush surface and 3D relief pattern on the lateral sides

Here is Sonic

T+ Factory

RMF (on those new transparent ones)

KVF (on their new 11-03)

last, and least... ZF

as you can see, the ZF clasp is not flush on the surface, it has this abnormal 3d block design, with no relief pattern on the lateral sides. IMO the Sonic and KVF look the best.
Who do you think has the best sound for the deploying clasp?

My prof 2x AR crystal for my BBR finally arrived, I cannot wait to install it and see how it looks. However my movement stopped working suddenly after setting the time a few months back. If anyone has any experience with a watchsmith that is open to working on the BBR RM055 movement please do let me know.

Most people I've asked do not want to touch the movement.

I think there’s also hesitation to work on RMs because of the tooling cost. I was looking at the array of bespoke screw drivers I’d need to get to even disassemble one of these watches, and I’d be looking at several hundred dollars just for those tools. With the low numbers of these movements out there (even with their relatively high failure rate) and a lack of spare parts, I can see why most watchmakers are reluctant to work on them.

Is it fair to say only BBR have been reported breaking down but not SONIC despite them using the same movement?

Just a quick update regarding the tools. I was able to find the correct 4 and 5 prong screwdrivers on eBay that fit the BBR V2 (at least for my specific model). They are around $17 USD each.

Get the 2.35
Buy at your own risk. It worked for me but I know there are slight tolerances to reps.

I'm tempted to get one, but the horror stories about this movement is turning me off... $600 for a paperweight...

I've had two with no issues, still have my second one and it is going strong.

So my BBR V2 arrived back to me today.
Movement fixed and running +1 second a day and Prof's 2xAR crystals installed for both top and bottom crystal.

I don't think it gets much better than this for RM reps currently.

Crystal is virtually invisible now under most lightings.
While exuding a slight blue-greenish tint under extreme angles.

The beautiful movement is now on full display, without the constant persistent glare disrupting which was what initially turned me off with this otherwise amazing rep.

Here's a video of the exact same watch from previous owner BEFORE the 2xAR treatment:

And here's a video of it currently, with 2x AR crystals on both top and bottom glass:

It looks like proper glass now, congrats on the mod. It is beautiful!
It seems to me the glass is a bit raised compared to pre-mod version 🤔
Btw, who did the mod for you?

It's possible as the crystal needs to be reglued in. There are no gasket on the top crystal.

Prof did the AR coating and MajorWilliams installed it for me and fixed the movement.

Also, I believe that rep with modified glass deserves a proper RM clasp, just saying

Looks like a huge improvement. Does it still have the blue/purple tint like the Gen RM. crystal?

I believe there are much better looking clasps available at Aliexpress at very competitive prices. I am not sure about the quality of actual snap mechanism, however at least they would look much better than this non-existent clasp 💪🏼
