Baby Oil still best?

so I did this a few weeks ago to a JF Daytona I purchased. It worked wonders BUT the oil continues to seep out and leaves a nasty looking film all over the polished center links... so the bracelet pretty much always looks dirty. I can wipe it away all day long but a few minutes later, it just seems to reappear. Last night I grew tired of it and washed the bracelet with dawn dish soap. It has resolved that issue but the bracelet seems to rattle again, oh well....

Harbor Freight has an ultrasonic cleaner for a great price as well. I use mine for all kinds of stuff, more than just watches.

Amazon has ultrasonic cleaners with 4.5 star reviews for under $30.

Put them in, press a button, wait ten minutes. Look at the water.

"Rock N Roll lubrication" the absolute dry version. nothing IMO comes close to this. works great.

Sorry for reviving this thread. Is it necessary to remove the bracelet to do this oil bath? Thank you

Not in 2019 IMO.

904l bracelets (for example) are amazing OTB.

Just wash the bracelet in hot soapy water a few times and wear it.

Oil bath just attracts dust, dirt and grime.

Hi,

I have washed several bracelets in my ultrasonic bath. They are clean as hell now! Is it useful to give them babyoil (or sth different, pls recommend, thx) bath or not? Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, baby oil bath by itself is not an ideal idea. If the oil is still leftover residue between links/joints, it will attract more dirt. I can say this from experience.

Something that works for me - Firstly clean rep bracelet in WD40 or ultrasonic bath. Then dip in baby oil and wipe thoroughly. Finally dip in warm water and dish soap to remove any excess oild still sticking to bracelet. Finally wipe with a good lint free polish cloth.

Instead of baby oil try coconut oil. Higher viscosity. I put the bracelet and oil in a ziploc and put the ziploc in a pot of hot water. Let it get up to temp and then remove it to work links back and forth. Put back in bag and resubmerge in hot water. Let sit a few hours til the water reaches room temp. Remove from bag and wipe down. Work links back and forth and wipe down again. Wash with warm soap and water and blot dry.

My best mix is an ultrasonic clean with a solution for ultrasonic cleaners, some degreaser, and Dawn dish soap. Then lube with WD40 Specialist Silicone. Water resistant and protects the bracelet.

Never tried any of the mentioned technique since I was always scared of the dirt build up on the oil afterwards.
Have always done warm water + non toxic dish soap + small brush with soft bristles.
Happy to hear other thoughts..
