Nobody here is belittling you. Reaps is merely giving you the truth without the fluff. Let's break this down.actually i didn't know that all reps were always illegal in all circumstances, i simply wanted to know the answer to my question. i am sorry i don't know all the secret handshakes or secret passwords to ur weird little club and yeah, i get it. u feel the need to flex while wearing the cloak of anonymity in the digital world so while i have no clue what real life is like for u but i for one, don't feel compelled to belittle someone bcuz they asked a question. could it be possible that i might find it interesting if, for example, they had been a TD at one time or whether this was a common practice? no? now i am going to continue learning about watches by DOING MY OWN research and i will leave u to ur job as HALL MONITOR of unacceptable questions
Replica goods are, in most countries, illegal to produce and sell. Although it may not be a crime to buy them in many places, the production and distribution are still unlawful.
If someone or a group of people is already breaking the law by selling illegal watches, there’s little to stop them from lying about other things, including terms that have no legal standing or protection.
Claiming to be a "TD at RWI" is not a term protected by any legal framework and won’t get them into more legal trouble. You can slap that shit on anything, and there will be no ramifications for these people who pray on the uneducated in this space.
Even if someone is a TD here, you should still be skeptical about their claims. There have been instances where TDs have lied about the specifics of their products. For example, one ex TD, Nick, falsely claimed that his watches were plated with 30 microns of gold, despite the price making such a claim impossible.
With that being said, the admins of RWI have done a good job of dealing with these cases of fraud. They work hard to maintain the integrity of the community and ensure that trusted dealers are held accountable for their claims.
So basically, to answer your question:
If someone is already breaking one law, there are not many reasons (outside of communities like RWI holding them accountable, which does not apply in this case, as they have never been a TD at RWI.) to avoid breaking more. That’s why this community is so important—it creates an environment where established dealers have a reason to be as honest as possible.
