Are you aware of an ETA 7750 movement (rather than asian movement)?

I don't believe there are any base dial automatics. The 7750 movement is needed to get the seconds at 9 o'clock, so you couldn't use any of the non-chrono ETA movements.

I know some of the dealers offer the PAM chronos with the option of using Swiss 7750 movements, but I've never seen a non-chrono offered with the Swiss movement. Maybe Joshua, Andrew or Angus could work out a "special" order if you really want it. Although, most of the Swiss 7750 models I've seen have been WELL over $500 USD (most over $600). It's not really worth it, IMO. The 28.8K hi-beat A7750 seem to be proving reliable in the "running seconds at 9 o'clock" configuration. Even more so if you have them serviced right away...

Thanks, I was indeed referring to the ETA 7750 for a chrono rep.

What is the point of having a rep serviced right away when you get it?? should i do this on every single watch as soon as i get it?
I'd think that when you get a good rep, you wouldn't have to service it immediately, right?

Well some say you should service your new watch right away, I have never done that and havent had any problems so far.
But what I really asked was if there are any pams with 2824 or 2836 ETA mvmt etc.
Cos in a couple of years when you need a service of your watch, almost any watchsmith can service and provide parts for these movements its a bit more tricky when it comes to asian "monsters"

Yes, and I answered that question above:

You *could* build your own automatic base dial watch, but it would be a fantasy, as far as I know.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all the gen auto PAMs have the seconds at 9 o'clock, so an ETA 2823/2836/etc wouldn't work.

Well, when the new A7750 started being used, it was kind of common for reps to have dirty/un-oiled movements. I believe this is getting better, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right?

absolutely peepshow... :D

Maxmlian - I believe Peepshow is right: only a 7750 movement would work, this is why I was asking my Q about wich PAMs are available with SWISS ETA 7750 movement vs an asian version. I also would prefer a reliable movement that can be serviced more easily later on. But again, this is probably a question to ask the dealer...

My last post was more intended to clarify for everybody.
And I am very aware of swiss 7750 but I think they are a bit too pricy..for me

Oh, sure, Max, I wasn't being pissy. When I re-read my post, I can see if it came across that way. Sorry.

Agreed, I'd not pay the premium for the Swiss 7750. Just get the Asian and have it serviced.

I suppose I'm the odd man out, but I'd never buy a manual mechanical watch. Panerai is my favourite watch, but I'll only buy automatics. As I understand, the only ones available as automatic AND swiss movement are 063, 029, 196, 188, 250, and a couple of wierd GMT models on Silix's site that I am not sure are representations of real models. I finally broke down and bought a 186 Arktos GMT with the asian 7750, but it was only because I HAD to have that watch. It is freakin awesome.

I guess I should read more carefull next time you already gave me some answers

I would wait a few more days, cut down on a few beers to save up, and then buy a 6497 based one. But that's just me.
