I doubt that's a reason because making the first batch a different DW does not change the fact that it's a Gen so I see no point in that. It doesn't stop reps from adjusting the DW later on in production so that doesn't make much sense if it was actually a strategy. Who determines if a DW is wrong then since technically the first batch by AP is a different one ?? I doubt AP have the rep market in mind when producing a watch, their main aim is to satisfy their customers and for the good of the brand and obviously profit, the issue of reps is an after thought to them and comes later on , not priority ......

I am still very much under the impression they care very little about the rep game at all. First, the same cliental are not buying the watches. Sure a rep may look good but I would never choose it over a gen if I was in the position to buy a gen right now. Honestlty, I had no clue AP existed until I started buying rep Omega's and got more into the game. Now they are my most coveted gen brand next to Patek.

Regarding the different fonds there are some rumors availabe
1) the first release always come with a different fonds, when the production starts up, they change to the old fond.
2) AP uses different suppliers for parts, you have the same problem on gen APs were they use brushed or polished hands.
for example, I have seen Safaris using brushed hands and polished hands, both were gen
Another example is the Schumacher AP, first releases have a black DW, production DW is red.
Now some people say, the first release is done wrong on purpose so that the rep industry will provide a wrong copy.
I kind of believe it. What would you say if the Schumi comes out with a black DW? I have seen the watch which was
bought from the factory, guess what the color of the DW is?
What ever, believe what you want, leave the DW as it is or modd it.

Hmmm this seems like a very plausible reason as to why first releases are different. At the same time if I was a severe collector I wouldn't veiw the differences as trick on the rep world but more so differences to distinguish a first release, therefore making it more collectible.

Not sure AP is worried about the rep world. I mean seriously all it takes is a screwdriver to pull off the case back and look at the movement even if reps are perfect. Then again there are a lot of insanely rich people who would buy an AP sold as gen not knowing and probably never knowing it was fake. Which would be harmful to AP sales because I'm sure there's a lot of those people.

My BB arrived yesterday..... what a remarkable rep.... best AP rep out there so far....

As to buying gens..... Reps have for sure curtailed my insane appetite and desire for purchasing Gens....

Although I will be buying a Gen this month..... possibly a 2014 42 , not sure which yet...or a GP FC or Legacy if I can source a decent one at a sensible price....

Got my bb from Ken two days ago. Quick delivery! Only took 2 days from HK to UK.

The watch is amazing. The dial, the case, the strap is amazing. Feels very well put together.

Tempted on getting a OEM strap but not sure if its worth it.

First APROO I think doesn't need a new strap right away. All other faux leather straps were crap. This one is actually quite nice.

I just received my BB today. The whole making of the watch is really remarkable and tempting. Nevertheless i would like to ask you guys if you think applying double AR is worth the money?

It's quite decent compared to my other reps but it could be better.

I think the Crystal is clear enough similar to gen, but the dial will definitely pop out more if you get a double AR, even clearer than the Gen so it's up to you I guess .....

The AR is not bad but 2x is much better. I put the Double ARed crystal from the SB on and I like it even better. SB sent to double AR again.
