Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ that Arnold Schwarzenegger's prized Audemars Piguet watch found a buyer at the auction today -- and the price it went for is pretty staggering.

We're told the timepiece ended up going for 270,000 euros ... which translates to about $293k in greenbacks. Remember, this thing was valued at around $100,000 or so -- and you gotta wonder if Arnold's escapade with it in Germany boosted its value among bidders.

They raised a total of 1.3 million euros at the fundraiser -- which is a record for the org!! This is especially big because the fundraisers in Europe don't generally raise as much as they do in the U.S.

The whole watch thing is funny.

But it is funnier how he first couldn't pay for the tax because the credit card machine did not work.

They took him to a bank, but the ATM withdrawal limit was too low. So he walks into the bank to find it is closed.

They drive him back to customs to find the Customs agent with a new credit card reader....

idk but I find it hilarious.
These all actually very German. As a German I laughed with a bitter grin...

Once I was hauled to the Zollamt (Custom) for some clothes I bought from Korea, I tried to pay the import tax and VAT in cash, but they said they didn't have change. I tried to pay by Giropay (like debit card), but they said the machine was down. They told me to go to an ATM machine within 10 mins driving distance, only knew the machine was down too when I arrived. Finally, those bozos asked me to come back another day. But then that stupid Zollamt is in the middle of nowhere, takes me 45 mins driving every time they haul me there.

They didn't have a system for us to pay online and send us the parcels until COVID-19 when everything shut down.

I think the news mentioned the customs officers recognized Arnold and so he was selected for "random" inspection. Plus he did intend on auctioning the watch so in a way the german customs is right.

Can someone here tell me how much taxation they think this watch has gone through to end up where it is right now?
