Based on the movement I think I would splash out and fit a VR3135 instead. Sels look better in the gear knob pic.

I don't really mind the DW font. The crystal height I'd like to have fixed. Safe to assume there would be magnification issues anytime you decrease a crystals height though, right?

Yes. Looking at the ARF date window size compared to gen, it's already smaller so going down even one gasket height size is the wrong direction and will worsen that appearance. 3.0 mag cyclops might be needed to lower the height as much as it needs.

Has anyone attempted to change the crystal to a higher mag to compensate for this? I'd seen where you switched out the DW to offset the mag change, but I haven't seen any examples where people have messed with the cyclops itself.

Here is an example of what just 0.2mm can do to date mag. It's one I'm currently working on to go the other direction - increasing the date mag by raising the crystal height. On this sample I can do that without the crystal height looking wrong.

Both of those have the same magnification cyclops, correct? The only difference is the 0.2mm height. Based on my measurments on the screen, that's about a 19% reduction on magnification. Surely there are some maths that can be done to figure out how much magnification change you need to offset the distance change of the crystal. On another post, I think you went from a 3.3mm gasket to a 2.85mm? so the total drop to get the crystal height correct was 0.65mm. Increasing the magnification from 2.5 to 3x might just about do it.

I'm sooooo happy to finally see some picts of the New ARF watch.

So... what to do? I'm dreaming of a kermit... few options are available right now:

-pre-owned TC (v6?),almost twice as expensive as this ARF, with gen crystal, would probably need a slight polishing / rebrushing as it hasn't been babied, and insert is scratched
-this New ARF watch (any chance a gen crystal will fit without issue? The crystal being too high annoys me a little. It looks like a rep trying too hard to look gen.)
-keep looking around for a JF

what would be the general consensus?
