Is the thicker dw font usually due to the cyclops magnification or the dw itself? I'm trying to decide if I should get a gen xtal or dwo first

In my opinion, I think changing the crystals should be good enough. I changed mine to prof’s crystal and the DW doesn’t look as thick as before.

here is a few of them. Sorry I don’t know to take good pictures. And also I dont know how did the coating on the cyclops came out. Never regret changing to prof’s crystal, however be very careful as they get scratch easily. Plus, the black hole effect is damm good. I always flex my wrist just so I can see the black hole

Is it more scratch-prone than the stock ARF xtal? Also, I saw that prof does coating on just the bottom side of the xtal that is less scratch-prone, but I'm assuming it doesn't look as good

Yup. The ARF crystal doesn’t have coating on top (correct me if I’m wrong). As for prof, they say it doesn’t look as good as the ones that has coating on top of the cyclops.

It's a question of preference. Gen Rolex don't have coating on the outside of the Cyclop, so prof xtals would be closer to gen (unless you're ordering a 2xar)

Prof crystal looks great. It does scratch easy and you will see them on top, but not too pronounce. It’s the closest crystal next to gen.

That's what I'm saying, unless you specifically ask for a 2xar you will get the black hole xtal tgat is meant to be close to gen

no it doesnt have a nice black hole effect. and the magnification is totally wrong. its an easy tell if you ask me
for me yes it makes a huge difference on the look of the watch especially in combination with a gen datewheel as the arfs are terrible..all of them

I suppose it comes down to your personal standards. I highly doubt anyone would call me out or notice a slightly bold date font or a wrong cyclops and it’s not my concern. However, I prefer a more gen like look to my own eyes for my own sake.
