No I'm not talking about some ball cap. I'm talking about some good ol' vintage classy fedora hat style. I don't know but since I got the old blue eyes' album, I kinda like the old fashioned debonaire look. Looks swell especially with a PAM 111 on the wrist. The fedora hat just ties in that vintage finishing touch to your accoutrements. I got hooked on them when I bought my first one (Knox Premium) on the Bay. My second one is the Dobbs Premier. Another side of my hobby perhaps, but much cheaper than watches. :D

I'd love to, but I dunno if I can pull it off.

Funny, I have that album cover (and 3 others) framed and hanging on the wall in our "lounge". Nice choice!

Looks very "Dick Tracy" to me.....

Still got too much hair on my head....... so I can wait a few more years before spending money on a borsalino, stetson or a stars&stripes bandanna.

Like golf, hat collecting is planned for the time I am in need of a walking stick and a new set of teeth.
Til then my money goes to watches, cars and guitars.

(Yep "Rounders", good one hool.)

I'm definitely a hat guy. I saw an Oris "Frank Sinatra" watch in Costco yesterday. Looked pretty good.

You don't have to wait being bald till you could wear one. Before the 60's, it was the custom of the day to have that hat wherever you go. It was part of professionalism attire that people took as the norm until its demise in the 60's. The demise of hat use by American men was quite abrupt. One hypothesis explaining the sudden shift places the date for the change as 20 January 1961 when John F. Kennedy chose not to wear a hat to his inauguration. The speculation is that men decided if the President didn't have to wear a hat, then they didn't have to put up with the bother of doing so either. By reason of this myth, it is thought to be easy to date a picture that shows groups of American men as before or after 1961 by the proportion of hats worn. There is ample photographic and journalistic evidence of President Kennedy indeed wearing a top-hat to his inauguration ceremony, only removing it when he gave his speech. It was even fueled a few years later when the Beatles popularized long hair.

Glad you clarified that, when I saw the netting....
Good for you wearing hats, shows some panache.

Thanks Rima! I always love the vintage look. Vintage and rep, I think they go together. :D

Hats for me every day. Fur felt is the only way to go. They can be pricey but really can last a lifetime. My brand of choice is Akubra, makers of the Aussie style hats.

Me, def! I'm old fashioned, dress Italian, have about a hundred overcoats/Jackets that I wear. They're not for everyone. I guess you have to have that nice shaped cabesa or no cigar!

I wanted to post something before, and then I saw this thread and thought it appropriate.
Pete's Hats is my online hat store that we have had for 2 yrs now. I was going to post the info but I didn't want to "spam" the board. We've got straw hats, caps fedoras, just about anything you can think of. We can do special orders as well, so check us out. PM me for more info if interested.

Don't own one, but I'm up for it, perhaps.

Not something I'd wear everyday, but certainly a nice option to have...
