The gen I want is $40,000

I have bought over 60 watches and sold only a few

Not in gen $ ballpark all added up

But the newer prices for reps makes it not worth it for me

Reps have improved in quality by a large margin while keeping around the same price as they were 6-7 years ago. Things have never been as good as they are right now. Aside from the problems we all run into from time to time, the fact that we get these outstanding watches that are damn near exact replications of the original is too good to be true. Below, I've listed a Pam, a Sub and a Breit, 3 of the most popular watches, and their exact cost I paid 6 years ago, and the exact cost for them today.

----------------------------

2007- Pam 177H. Total cost $218
2013 Pam 111M. Total cost $238

$20 difference. Superlume & vast improvements to the watch all around.

---------------------------------

2007- SS Black Dial Classic 16610 w/ Swiss Eta 2836-2 Cost $213.00
2011 SS Noob 16610 w/ clone ETA- Total cost $128
2013- BP Sub C Asian ETA- Cost $257

$44 increase from a woky sub in 2007 to a superlumed sub C from BP maker. Almost $100 LESS for a noob 16610 w/ asian ETA. If it were Swiss, the cost would be about the same.

-------------------------------------------------------------

2007 SFSO (Swissfish, gen ETA) Cost $358
2013 SFSO V2 Ultimate/Swiss ETA Cost $443

Almost $100 more for +/- the same thing. Interesting thing is this was one of the 1st "super reps". The price reflects so! I still have it, w/ gen dial added.

^^^Nice!

I've only been buying reps for little over a year, so it's great to get some real firm numbers from someone who's been around for a while.

You could have had a gen Daytona with no flaws

Easily. Ive had some great gens, but id rather have just about every conceivable watch I could want, then one or two gens. At least right now since these reps wont be around forever.

Add Swiss ETA to 2013 Sub - and you'll get almost $400.
So, prices Do go up.

Luth, you're comparing a 16610 sub with a 116610 sub-c. Try comparing the 2007 sub with the 2011 sub instead. Besides, the price of Swiss ETA going up to a $150 upgrade instead of $50 in 2007 isn't the fault of the rep industry. Blame ETA for that.

I bought that same white DJ 2 with 'Swiss ' mov't about 11/2 years ago for $250.

Yes, Swatch has really almost eliminated ETA mov'ts now in reps. Also, I think Noob factory

stuff, while mostly very good, is often too expensive. Take for ex. the CF Divers, almost

$500 Asian 2824?! You can get decent gens for that- including 2 Seiko Monsters.

The Divers made that approach $500 are either Swiss 2824's or non SS cases. The V4 Diver in Asian 2824 is one of the best bangs for the buck. Try taking one apart, and you'll see all the intricacies that go into producing one. I would pay $1000 for a good FC AP.
