Are Raymond Weil considered to be a cool watch brand?

Just wondered what people here on the forum think about Raymond Weil watches, is it a brand with a strong image? IS it worth the investment?

i think theyre a solid watchmaker. they have some great pieces. not really sure how their values hold if youre talking about buying a gen.
theyre not as well known as rolex but theyre quality watches. which model were you looking at?

you shouldnt buy a watch because its a "cool brand" or well known.
buy it because you love it and must have it. if youre talking gen, thats a decent chunk of money. id buy it if i was in love with it.

you should also check to see if they hold their values pretty well.
spending a few grand on a watch is a investment imo.

One of the first watch makers to gold plate the case back in order to fool punters to think it was a gold watch ( i used to sell them in the 80s utter rubbish then)

I think they make some quality watches and look great. Very popular brand among general public.

They seem to offer a decent value but they're too dressy for my taste, so I have never owned one.

I have a Raymond Weil Nabucco GMT and I like the watch, I do however think that to the WIS crowd they are thought more of along the same lines as Tag Huer.... Good enough for "normal" people but not a real watch enthusiast. I don't listen to those WIS people and also own a Tag Huer Link Chrono!

I've never understood the interest in them. But then again, I could probably say the same thing about a lot of brands (and probably did say about some brands I really like today).

It's well, it's so so ......... most have ETA movements in them. The quartz models are now beginning to sport Miyota movements. It's a fancy sounding name, and not hard to pronounce, so folks can actually ask to see one saying it correctly !! It's a bread and butter, gotta sell one today, kind of watch in upper end jewelry stores to pay the rent this month kinda watch. The Rolex and other higher end brands they carry lure you in to browse !!..........they have got to get you somehow !! Bam, sold to the gentleman in the plaid suite !!

RW in general does not appeal to me. But I like the Nabucco Rivoluzione Black Chronograph.
